Thanks, Michelle Scully's Apartment 6:29am June 24, Sat. "Hello?" answered Scully as she rose from her bed and answered the phone. "Hey Scully, it's me," Mulder greeted. "Mulder what's wrong? It's six-thirty in the morning on a Saturday," "Well, you know how the other day you told me to slow down and not go jumping into every x-file?" Mulder recalled. "Yeah," Scully sighed, rolled her eyes and pushed a piece of hair behind her ear. "What are you getting at?" "Well, I have decided to relax and take you with me!" Mulder explained. "Mulder, I just want to get some sleep, that's the way I relax!" "No no, please come with me!" Mulder whined like a little boy. He seemed to want this really bad, Scully thought. "Were are we going Mulder?" "I found this little meadow with a stream and I want to have a picnic breakfast," "At six-thirty in the morning, outside?" Scully asked. "Yeah, everything is so beautiful in the morning," Mulder explained. "So can I pick you up in a half hour?" "I guess so Mulder," Scully said and hung up the phone. She plopped back on her bed and curled up around a pillow. "Ohhh, I don't want to get up!" she screamed. Then she quieted down and got up to get dressed. Just then she heard her phone ring again. "Hello?" she answered. "Hey Scully, I forgot to tell you wear old clothes," Mulder said. "Okay," she said sarcastically and skeptically then she hung up. Scully got up and went to her closet. "what is her getting us into today?" she asked herself as she pulled out a pair of black pants and a tank top. ************************************************** Mulder's Apartment 6:38am June 24, Sat. Mulder scrambles around in his apartment looking for decent clothes. As he throws on a pair of jean shorts he realizes the omelets on the stove are burning. "S**t, so much for a great breakfast," Mulder peers down at his watch. Maybe I have time to cook another omelet," Mulder finished getting dressed and cooked another omelet. Then he packed the basket with food, grabbed a big towel and scrambled to his own car. He arrives at Scully's five minutes late, but she wasn't ready anyway. Mulder let himself in with his own key and sat on her couch. He heard the hair dryer going, hoping she'd be finished soon. The bathroom door opened and Scully came out. Each piece of her fiery red hair was in place. "Hey, sorry I am late," Mulder said, trying to strike up a conversation. He was thinking about how to tell her what he wanted to tell her, the whole purpose of this picnic. "That's okay, I am ready now," Scully headed to the door and Mulder put his hand on the small of her back to escort her out. She lightly flinched but kept moving. The car ride had an awkward silence because they had nothing to talk about. Scully was thinking the entire time and she tried to rationalize what got the idea of relaxation into Mulder's head. Surely it couldn't have been her. Mulder made a right turn onto a dirt road. There was a faint sound of a farmer plowing his fields. "I bet you didn't know Washington D.C. had forests or farms huh," Mulder laughed. "Forests and farms? Maybe small ones," she answered. Mulder pulled up to a small stream and stopped the car. The stream was so thin at that spot that the road kept on going right through the water. Mulder got out and laid the towel on the ground. Scully came around the car and sat down with him. "You cooked?" Scully asked in surprise. "Yeah, here have whatever you want," Mulder laid down on the towel and starred at the blue sky above. "Yup, it's time to relax" he sighed. "Mulder" Scully started. "Already board? I thought so," Mulder smiled. "No, not really, " she said. Mulder got up and grabbed Scully's hand to pull her up. "Well I am," he said. Still holding her hand, Mulder plunged into the stream, dragging Scully with him. Scully let go of his hand. "Mulder, you just got me wet, what are you doing?" "Having fun. Doing something we wouldn't normally do," he said as he scooped his hands in the water and splashed her. "Fine then," she said and began to splash him too! A few minutes went by as the smiles and laughter grew on their faces. Scully tripped over a rock in the streambed and fell. Mulder tried to grab her arm for support, but he fell to, right on top of her. Now they both were soaked. Mulder lifted his head and looked at Scully. Her eyes were closed but her mouth was open as she sighed. Then she opened them and looked into Mulder's huge green eyes. A moment of passion sparked yet Mulder was somewhat scared to do anything for fear of how she would react. "Are you okay?" Mulder asked as he got up and helped her up. "Yeah, I'm fine," she said. They stood there in the stream ringing the water out of their clothes. There was moment of silence, when they finished they looked back up at each other. They both were adults and knew the feelings that just rose to the surface. Both Mulder and Scully tried to ignore them. They saw a farmer on his tractor in a field very close to them. Row by row he came closer. "We should go down stream a little so the farmer doesn't see us," Mulder suggested. Scully didn't know how to take that. Was he implying that they were going to act on their passion out here or was there some other apparent reason that she wasn't aware of? "Why?" she hesitated. "Because this is private property, and that means we're not supposed to be here," Mulder answered. "Mulder..." Scully started but Mulder grabbed her hand and started running downstream because the farmer was within seeing distance of them. Once again Scully was tugged along until he stopped at a bank on the side of the stream. He laid down in the soft grass, out of breath. Scully remained standing, and she gave him one of her Scully looks like "What the hell are you thinking". Mulder opened his eyes and peered up at her. By then Scully was tired and wet and didn't feel like fighting, so she laid down next to Mulder. Everything was quiet except for the birds and the trees. Mulder turned to his side and put his hand on Scully's cheek. "Mulder..." she began, but he was too fast. He leaned in and covered his mouth with hers. They kissed deeply but not for long, Scully pulled away. "Ahhh, Mulder," she moaned acknowledging the kiss, "um we can't do this," she said as she closed her eyes and turned away from him. "Scully, I..." he paused. "I have to tell you something," he said. Her eyes got huge with worry. "I thought about what you said, relaxing, and I realized what I was missing by just being clam. Scully..." he stopped and they sat up and looked at each other.. "I wanted to see what it was like to be with you, without being rushed or thinking about work or an x-file," "Is that why you brought me here?" Scully asked in confusion. "I brought you here for a lot of reasons. We never get to spend any time together as friends," "Friends don't kiss Mulder, especially not like that," she rolled her eyes remembering the incredible feelings that shot through her body. "What's going on?" Scully mentioned. "I truly just wanted to hang out. I thought it would be fun to come here and it is. But when we..." Mulder paused and ran his hands through his hair as if he were stalling or embarrassed, trying to put his feelings into words. "But when we kissed, I found out something more then I ever expected to," "Mulder, we've gotta stop this, I mean we're partners," she said and started to get up. Mulder put his hand on her arm to stop her. "You've got to hear this Scully. I know you feel it and you can't hide it from me," "Mulder, just stop, it's just our hormones and the fact that we're always busy and never go on dates with others, I mean..." Scully said trying to find excuses. "It's not hormones Scully (well some of it is, he thought)...I ...I love you," A shock came upon Scully's face, she didn't expect him to say that. "Scully listen, I have lost my mom, dad and my sister, I don't, I can't lose you too. I feel like I am, and you're all I have," A tear strolled down Scully's face as she listened. "Mulder, you're not going to lose me. I'll be right here by you as your partner. Mulder it just wouldn't work," "How do I know I won't lose you? Every single x-files we're in danger. When I rescued you from that UFO in Antarctica, I was so scared, I realized that you are my life," More tears came from Scully's eyes as she hugged Mulder. He pulled away and wiped away her tears. He put his hands up to her mouth and then kissed her. He slowly made his way down her neck to her shoulder. Scully wrapped her arms around him and closed her eyes. She didn't want him to stop, but she didn't want this to happen, for fear of them getting split up if anyone knew they were more then partners. Mulder pushed her down on the ground and laid on top of her, kissing every inch of her he could reach... "Mulder..." she said letting him know she wanted this. But then she heard the tractor and she opened her eyes to glance up into the fields, while Mulder was more preoccupied with other things. "Mulder," she said in a different tone and tapped him on his back. "Mulder, the farmer is coming," She tried to sit up and get him off of her but he kept kissing her and pushing her back down. "Mulder, we have to get out of here," she warned. Mulder stopped and glanced up. "Oh damn," he cursed. He and Scully jumped up and ran through the water heading towards the car. Mulder jumped in and started the car as Scully hopped in the other side. He backed up the car on the dirt road until the farmer was out of sight. Then he turned around in the field and headed towards the highway. "Mulder, what about the picnic stuff?" Scully questioned. "Oh well, it'll have to stay there. I'm not going back, risking again that the possibility that that farmer is an asshole who will lock me up for trust passing and then Skinner will find out and it'll be a whole big mess," Mulder turned on the air-conditioning and turned onto the highway. They were completely quiet on the way back, so Scully took advantage of the silence to sleep. She was still tired from getting up early. Mulder pulled into Scully's parking garage at about nine o'clock. He parked and sat a minute just thinking. He looked over at Scully, who was still asleep. He was thinking about how precious she was to him and that she looked like an angel when she's sleeping. He got out and walked around the car to her side. He opened the door and scooped her up in his arms and kicked the door shut behind him. He was amazed she hadn't woke up just from him picking her up. Scully started to wake up when Mulder was carrying her up the stairs. "Mulder, you can put me down now, I must be heavy," Scully said because she was uncomfortable being so close to him after what they did today. They walked to Scully's apartment door. She stopped and checked her pockets for her key, but she couldn't find it. "Mulder, do you have my key?" "Only the spare one, why?" "It must have fell out of my pocket when we were..." Scully stopped. "Can I use your spare?" she asked. Mulder gave her a strange look and handed her the key. He knew what she was going to say. They walked in her apartment and shut the door. "I am going to get out of these wet clothes and take a shower," Scully said. She walked into her bedroom and shut the door. Mulder began thinking about this awkwardness he'd created. He felt bad but he had to tell her his feelings. They were just eating away at him inside for a long time. Hopefully, they would get to a more comfortable state between them, whether they go back to being just partners or forward, into what he didn't even have a word for. He walked over, sat down and answered his cell phone which had been ringing but didn't interrupt his thoughts. "Mulder," he answered. "Agent Mulder, where have you been? I have been trying to reach you for an hour," Skinner questioned. "I was out, it's Saturday remember. What's wrong?" "I need you and Agent Scully to come to the office. I have an urgent case I'd like to put you on," Skinner explained. "Well, Agent Scully is currently in the shower, can it wait an hour?" "Mulder, I need you two down here soon! Why are you at Scully's so early?" Skinner became skeptical. "We had breakfast out this morning, that's where we were," Mulder tried to explain as truthfully as he could without revealing details. "Then shouldn't she have taken a shower before you went to breakfast?" questioned Skinner. "Hey, I know. You're telling me. But she said I didn't give her enough time to take a shower before I came to pick her up. Anyway, what's the case about?" "Well, I have been contacted by a Washington Sheriff. Mr. Bloom I think it is. He's got a case dealing with a farmer who swears he saw two dead bodies in his stream this morning and now they're gone. It sounds like an x-files to me," "Sir, would this incident have happened to occurred in the Southeast District?" Mulder asked with huge eyes of worry. "Um, yes, Southeast district, how did you know that?" Skinner asked. "Just a hunch sir, we'll be there as soon as possible," Mulder said and hung up. He slumped down on the couch and rubbed his face with his hands. Just then the shower stopped. "I am beginning to get a headache," Mulder said to himself, thinking about all these feelings and then covering his tracks. "Pardon?" Scully said. She quickly walked out of the bathroom and into her room to get her robe, which was left behind this morning. "What's wrong Mulder?" she asked. She turned her back and quickly put the robe on. Then she dropped her towel carefully trying not to reveal anything. Mulder's eyes were fixated on her the whole time and it was a subconscious thing, he couldn't help it, she was so beautiful. Scully turned around and caught him starring. "Mulder, hello, answer me!" she shouted into his starring eyes. She walked over and sat down next to him on the couch. "Skinner just called, he wants us to come down to the office, he has an x-file for us," Mulder began. "Oh, so much for relaxation," she said. Mulder moved closer to her and put his arm around her. She grew uncomfortable with him touching her. The biggest problem was because she wanted it but didn't want Mulder to know that. In the car she had decided that she wouldn't let anything happen between them, no matter how much she wanted him. "We have a problem" he started. "What's wrong?" Scully began to worry. She already thought of ways that Skinner could have found out about their little breakfast/swim this morning. "Skinner was contacted by Mr. Bloom, a sheriff, who has this case. Skinner thinks it sounds like an x-file, but I don't," "Why? What did he say?" "He said a farmer saw two dead bodies in his stream this morning, in the Southeast district of Washington D.C. That's where we were this morning Scully, do you know what that means?" "Mulder, this guy thinks he saw dead bodies but what he saw was us laying down, if it's the same farmer," "It has to be Scully, there aren't many farms in Washington D.C. And hear this, the sheriff and Skinner think we have an x-file. How are we going to fix this?" Mulder said. Scully got up and started pacing. "See this was a terrible idea this morning, Mulder. Why did you have to do that?" "I only took you to breakfast, I thought it would be fun," Mulder explained. "Why did you have to kiss me?" She increased her voice and became stressed out, not realizing that she was saying what she was thinking. "Why did you kiss me back? It wouldn't have been a problem if you didn't kiss me back," Mulder yelled. "Yes it would have, because you would've been heart broken and rejected," "Oh so you just did it so I wouldn't feel rejected?" Mulder shouted trying to get her to admit her feelings. "NO...no Mulder, I didn't, I wanted to kiss you but...wait this is not the problem! The problem is that the man thought we were dead and now we have to convince Skinner that there is no x-file and the farmer that there were no people in his stream," Scully said as she began to calm down. Mulder could clearly see that she was upset and shaking. Mulder got up and took her in his arms. "Hey, it'll be okay. We'll fix everything, don't worry," Mulder tried to comfort her but it was only making her worse, it only made her want him more. He pulled back slightly and cupped her chin in his hands. He looked in her eyes and started to lean in to kiss her. Scully immediately pulled away for her own sake because she knew that kiss would go further. She stopped hugging him and started to walk back to her bedroom. "I am going to get dressed," she managed to choke out as she picked her towel up off the floor. Mulder stood there empty handed as he watched her door close. I guess I shouldn't tempt her, it's really upsetting her, he thought. God, I can't help it, I love her so much. I want to be with her in every way. Maybe I should keep giving her chances to kiss me and she will when she's ready, when she can admit it, Mulder thought. Mulder and Scully walked in the FBI building with some distance between them. They headed for Skinner's office. "Good morning Agents, have a seat please," Scully looked at Mulder and then sat down. "We actually found some evidence since I last talked with you Agent Mulder. Oh and I assume you filled Agent Scully in on everything?" "Yes sir, what evidence?" Scully asked nervously. Skinner pulled a Ziploc bag from his desk with a key in it. "The local P.D. searched the area and found this key, as well as, a towel with picnic accessories, and footprints," "Oh god," Scully whispered and put her hands in front of her mouth. Mulder looked at her and tried to get her to calm down and act casual. "Is there something wrong Agent Scully?" Skinner asked concerned. "No she's fine," Mulder butted in afraid Scully couldn't speak and needed time to get her composure. "She can speak for herself Agent Mulder," Skinner mentioned. "I'll be okay, may I step out into the hallway for a minute?" she politely asked. He nodded and she quickly left. "What was that about Mulder?" Skinner asked referring to Scully. "I don't really know sir, I don't think she's feeling well," Mulder answered trying to play dumb. "Is it her cancer?" "No, I think it's a women thing, ya know what I mean?" "Yeah, I guess. Um so what are you going to do first?" Skinner questioned. "I think we will go down there ourselves and have a look around," Mulder finished and got up to leave the room. Mulder entered the hallway to find Scully sitting on a bench. She didn't look so good. "Scully are you okay?" Mulder asked. She looked up at him. Her eyes watered but she didn't let her tears drop. He bent down to hold her. "Mulder, I really am not feeling good. Can...can we go to the hospital?" she gasped for air. Mulder looked at her and looked back at Skinner's door. He was standing in the doorway watching them. He also seemed very concerned. Mulder stood up and tried to help Scully up. "I can't Mulder, I can't get up," she said to him. Mulder looked back at Skinner and then he picked her up, holding one arm around her back and one arm under her legs. Her head drooped on his shoulder as he carried her to the car. Skinner followed them to open doors and he told Mulder to call him later about what happens at the hospital.... Bluefield Memorial Hospital 12:24pm Section C Rm.227 Mulder admitted Scully to the hospital and got her settled in a room. She was in and out of consciousness until the doctor asked Mulder to step out of the room so he could do a full examination. "Do you know what's wrong with her?" Mulder asked the doctor eagerly when he stepped out of the room. "I'm going to have to do some more tests and then I'll let you know," the doctor said and then ran off to another ward. Mulder walked back into Scully's room. He pulled a chair over by her bedside and sat down. He took her hand in his and looked at her. "Mulder," "No Scully, don't try to talk, you need to get better," "Mulder, I love you too," she said softly. A tear streamed down her cheek. "Don't you tell me that now, Scully you're going to be fine, don't start saying goodbye, do you hear me," Mulder tried to reassure himself. "I'm not saying goodbye, it's just something I wanted and needed to say and you needed to hear," Mulder laid his head on her arm and she put her hand in his hair. "Um, I am sorry to interrupt but, Mulder, is it? I need to see you in the hallway," the doctor said. Mulder let go of her hand and walked to the door. "I'll be back Scully," he said. Mulder stepped out into the hall and shut the door. "What? What's wrong with her?" Mulder said in a panicky voice. "It's Dana's cancer, it's gone out of remission," "What...What caused this?" Mulder asked completely amazed. "It could be a lot of things. Maybe over-the-counter medication she's taking, a hormonal imbalance, stress, or all of those combined," Mulder began to think that forcing Scully to be with him in a different way could have caused this to happen. "So, what do we do about it?" "Well, we'll have to do some more tests and give her some medication. If it doesn't seem to help in a few days, I would consider chemotherapy," the doctor explained. "Look if you want to help her, go be with her. That's the best of all medicine," the doctor said and walked away. Mulder wasn't so sure of that, begin with him stressed her out. He walked back into her room. "Mulder, what's wrong with me?" Scully asked in a weak voice. "Don't worry so much, you'll be fine," Mulder said and sat beside her. Scully took his hand. "You can't hide the truth from me the same way I can't hide it from you, Mulder tell me," "It's your cancer, it's gone out of remission and it's made you sick," Mulder explained. "What caused this to happen? I mean I know the causes but what did the doctor say?" "He said over-the-counter medication mixes, hormonal imbalances, and stress. Those last to sound like the culprit considering the things happening between us lately," "Mulder it's not your fault," "Yes it is, I shouldn't have forced you to..." "Mulder you didn't force me to do anything I didn't want to do. If I didn't want to do something, I would have told you. You've known me long enough to know that," "Know what?" Skinner questioned as he accidentally overheard part of their conversation. "Nothing. Scully's cancer has gone out of remission," Mulder informed Skinner. Scully sat up in her bed and Mulder moved to another chair so Skinner could sit next to Scully. "How are you feeling?" asked Skinner. "Like I am going to throw-up, um, ahh, I'm just a little weak that's all," Scully laughed. "Well, it's nice to see you smile," Skinner remarked. Mulder smiled at Scully and she smiled back. "Agent Mulder, I thought maybe I'd assist you with this x-file since Agent Scully is here," "Um, that won't be necessary sir, I am going to stay with Scully tonight and start tomorrow," Mulder spoke up quickly. "Okay then, I'll call you in the morning. I hope you feel better Scully," Skinner said and then walked out the door. The evening passed with a nurse interrupting every thirty minutes to take Scully's vitals. A nurse brought her some dinner and Mulder a coffee. It was about nine o'clock when they finally got a TV hooked up and by then what was the point. Mulder read magazines and paced the hall waiting for the doctor's report, while Scully slept. Mulder covered her up with another blanket and kissed her cheek goodnight, then he curled up on the little couch they had in the room. Bluefield Memorial Hospital June 25, Sunday 7:04am Section C Rm227 The sunlight shone bright through the hospital window of Scully's room. She was already awake and eating breakfast. "Good morning Mulder," she greeted him as he sat up and rubbed his eyes. "Morning, how do you feel?" Mulder asked still concerned. "Much better. I got a lot of sleep last night and a nurse came in at about midnight and gave me some medicine the doctor ordered. She told me that if the medicine seems to work, I might be able to go home today," Scully smiled. "You're not going home until I speak with the doctor," Mulder said being very protective. "Mulder," "No, Scully," Mulder walked over to Scully's bed, he bent down to whisper in her ear, "I can't lose you," he said softly. He leaned back, "I've gotta get to Mr. Bloom before Skinner does and fix what I messed up. Will you be alright without me?" "Mulder...I'll be fine," He leaned down to hug her and walked out the door. Southeast Washington D.C. "Galloping farms" 8:54am Mulder pulled up to the stream as before only this time there was yellow police tape around the area. All of his thoughts went through his head. Scully was so beautiful when she wasn't so professional, when she was being herself and having fun. He remembered what it felt like when her creamy white skin just melted on his lips. Mulder took off his shoes and got into the water. Then he walked up stream instead of downstream where him and Scully went. Mulder walked about ten yards then peered down into the water. He saw a dead carcass that looked like a fish. Mulder pulled a pair of rubber gloves out of his pocket and retch down to pull it out of the water. He hadn't realized what he had stumbled upon. It was the bones of a human buried in the mud of the streambed. Mulder dropped the skull and took off the gloves. He got out his cell phone to call Skinner. "Skinner" he answered. "Hey, Skinner you won't believe what I found," "Agent Mulder? I thought we were going to go together today?" "Yeah, yeah, yeah, anyway I'm at the Southeast district farm and I took a look around. It seems like your forensic team should be fired," "Why?" Skinner asked. "Because I just found human bones up stream from the road," "But the farmer said the bodies he saw were down stream," Skinner informed Mulder. "Well, regardless of what he saw, I have bones that need to be taken care of," Mulder continued. "Okay, I'll send out some back up to help you," "That's fine. I'll leave something as a clue for the researchers to find it because I am leaving," "Agent don't leave, I'm sending others out there," "No, I'm going back to the hospital," Mulder insisted and then hung up. He took down some yellow police tape and tied it on some bushes near the bones in the water. As Mulder walked back to his car he encountered a car coming down the dirt road. The old man driving got out and approached Mulder. "Hey there, my name is Jeffery Maykrantz, the farmer. Can I help you?" Mulder took out his badge and held it up. "My name is Fox Mulder, I'm with the FBI. You said you saw dead bodies? How far away were you?" "Oh about a couple of yards," "Well, then how did you know that they were dead?" "They were very still it seemed for a long time. I had heard splashing when I stopped my tractor in the field," the farmer answered. Mulder thought for a minute. "How do you know it wasn't some teenage kids fooling around?" Mulder asked. "I didn't know but as I came closer to check that out, they were gone," "What do you suppose the splashing was?" Mulder questioned. "Maybe deer or dogs," "Maybe people?" Mulder asked. "Maybe," the farmer said nervously. "Do you know anything about a picnic basket found here?" "I have no idea," the farmer answered truthfully. "Well, don't you think it could've been kids having a picnic, maybe they got scared you were going to see them and booked?" "Maybe, but then why were they laying in the stream so long?" "Come on, teenagers! They'd do anything in that water together, you know what I mean?" Mulder kept on shaping his story. "the thing I don't understand Mr...Mr," Mulder was fishing for his name. "Mr. Maykrantz," "Yes, Mr. Maykrantz, what I don't understand is that why would you report such a thing to the police without being sure that those bodies were dead," Mulder said suspiciously. "I...I just wanted to..." the farmer stuttered. "Come with me Mr. Maykrantz and see if you can explain this to me," Mulder led the farmer over to the site surrounded by the police tape. "look in the water, tell me what you see," Mulder continued. "I see some bones in the water," the farmer replied. "Do you know whose bones they are or who put them there?" "Well, actually, um no I don't know anything," the farmer answered nervously. "Look, I don't have time for your games. I can tell you're lying but I've got to go. just do yourself a favor and don't leave town, I have already called the local P.D. about these bones. But unfortunately, I can't arrest you," Mulder finished. "Look, Mr. Mulder, I don't know what's going on here or what you think but I didn't do anything. If you don't mind I'd like to get back to work," "Sure," Mulder said and rolled his eyes. The farmer started walking back up the hill to his vehicle. Mulder walked over to his car, got in and left. Bluefield Memorial Hospital 10:34am Section C Rm.227 Mulder went into Scully's room and pulled back the curtain to find an empty bed. He raced into the hallway looking for a nurse or doctor. "Excuse me, does anyone know where room 227's patient went? Her name is Dana Scully. Can anyone help me?" Mulder shouted. "Sir, please calm down, we have other patients here too," a nurse said as she walked by with clean linen in her arms. Mulder continued to pace the hall. "Agent Mulder?" a voice behind him said. "Yes," he swiveled around quickly. "I'm doctor Barns, Scully's doctor. I spoke with you about her condition in the hall right?" "Yes, yes. Where is she?" "She was discharged about a half hour ago," said Dr. Barns. "How did she get home?" Mulder asked curiously. "A man was with her," "A man? Who, what did her look like?" "He was rather tall, bald with glasses," "Okay, thanks," Mulder said and immediately ran for his car. Scully's Apartment 11:02am June 25, Sunday Mulder ran down the hall and then slowed to a walking pace to look as if he were cool and calm. He knocked on the door and Skinner answered. "Agent Mulder," Skinner said as Mulder barged through the door. "Where is she?" Mulder asked. "She's in her room, sleeping. She's been through a lot Mulder," "When did you pick her up?" "She called me at about nine-thirty and said that the doctor had released her," Skinner explained. "Why didn't she call me?" "She said she didn't want to bother you. She wanted to be alone," "She didn't want to bother me? What kind of excuse is that?" Mulder asked. "Agent Mulder, she specifically told me that if you came by, to tell you to go home. She wants to rest," "What did the doctor say?" Mulder changed the subject knowing that Scully didn't really want him to leave. "He gave her some medication. She's to take it for the rest of the week and then go back to the hospital for a check up to see if it's working," Skinner answered. "Alright, you can go back to the office now, I'll stay with her," Mulder said. "Agent Mulder, she doesn't want you here. Something's up with you two. Your being really over protective and she's pulling away. Why?" "Look, I don't know why. I've been through this cancer thing with her before and I know what she's going through. Her cancer is a very sensitive thing for her and I'm just being protective because I am her partner," "Skinner it's okay. I'll handle him," Scully said walking out of her bedroom in her robe. "Are you sure Scully?" She nodded and he left. "Mulder, what are you doing?" "Scully, why didn't you call me?" "Mulder, I just wanted a break, please. Just go," she said. "I'm not leaving. Just go back to bed and I'll make myself comfortable on the couch," "No Mulder," "Stop getting yourself worked up. This stress isn't good for you. Just go back to sleep," "I can't sleep with you here Mulder," Scully said getting frustrated. "Now that's ridiculous, why can't you sleep," "Because..." "Because why?" "Mulder, uhh," Scully yelled and went to her room and slammed the door behind her. She laid on her bed and hated everything that had just happened. She tries to get her distance and he just gets closer. She curled up under her blankets and tried to sleep. Mulder sacked out on the couch for about an hour but woke up because he heard a loud noise. As he sat up, he listened closely and then walked over into Scully's kitchen and looked out the window. The apartment building's janitor was mowing the lawn. He decided to check on Scully. As he opened the door and peered in, he noticed a slight smile on her face. He laughed under his breath as she opened her eyes. "What are you doing?" she asked. "Watching you sleep," "I wasn't sleeping," she said and sat up. Mulder walked over to her bed and sat next to her... "I didn't get to ask you something earlier because someone was being stubborn. How are you feeling?" "A lot better, I'm just a little tired," "Then why don't you sleep?" Mulder asked knowing her answer; he just wanted to see if she would admit her feelings. There was a silence as she didn't answer and changed the subject only because she knew what Mulder was trying to do. "What happened at the farm? Didn't you go there this morning?" she asked. "I did. I had a talk with the farmer. Everyone seems to be under the impression that there were dead bodies. But we know ourselves that it was us. So, I began searching around for something else because it was awful fishy how Mr. Maykrantz, the farmer, called the police without even making sure that the bodies were dead. So I walked up stream instead of downstream where we were and guess what? I did find something. Bones, Scully. Human bones. Now the question is who's are they and who put them there?" "Those are great questions Mulder, what did you do?" "I called the P.D. and told them to get a better forensics team out here and examine these bones. I talked with Mr. Maykrantz and his story was so screwed up and he was nervous the whole time. I could tell he was lying and I informed him of that and that he shouldn't leave town for his own sake," Just then Mulder's cell phone rang. "Mulder," he answered. "Agent Mulder, the forensics team has examined the evidence. The key and the picnic stuff but they haven't gotten to your bones yet," Skinner began. "Okay," Mulder said not knowing what he was getting at. Scully was sitting impatiently next to him trying to hear every word. "They found something interesting to me in the picnic basket," "Really? What is it?" Mulder became nervous. "A piece of paper with your name on it, your and Scully's fingerprints and the fact that there was breakfast food inside leads me to believe that you and Scully were there that morning. Didn't you say you two went out for breakfast?" Mulder didn't know how to answer that and Scully's eyes grew large. "Agent Mulder answer me," "Yes sir, we were there," Mulder said and sighed putting his hand on his forehead. Scully threw a pillow at him and then laid down on the bed putting her hands on her forehead as well. "Why were you there?" Skinner asked. "We just went for a picnic breakfast, sir," Mulder tried to make it sound innocent. "And the key?" Skinner persisted. "Scully dropped her house key in the water," "What were you doing in the water?" Skinner questioned. Mulder felt like he was on trial and decided to just answer simply. "We were looking at the bones," "Agent Mulder get your story straight, you called this morning and said you had just found those bones," Skinner's voice was becoming louder and Scully could hear every word spoken without effort. "Why didn't you come forward in the first place and tell me this evidence is yours?" "Agent Scully didn't want me too," Scully sprang up in bed and gave Mulder a dirty look. She was really ticked off at him now. "Do you two have something to hide?" "No, we were just out to a nice breakfast as friends and we splashed each other with the water. At which we found the bones. I didn't have time to tell you about the evidence because I was with Scully in the hospital," "You had plenty of chances agent. If I can't trust you two then you shouldn't be on the x-files," "Sir, with all respect, this isn't about Agent Scully and me, this is about Mr. Maykrantz and those human bones in his stream," "How do I know that you and Agent Scully didn't dispose of those bones there? You ran from the farmer isn't that right? Mr. Maykrantz said when he got closer you ran, correct?" "Sir, I think you know us better then that. I talked with Mr. Maykrantz and he seemed very nervous. Don't you think it's weird that he didn't come to see that we were dead before he called the police? I think he's our suspect," "Whatever Agent Mulder, I am tired of arguing and I have a meeting to get to, after that I will track down your suspect. You and Scully better get your act together, your not the best of liars," Skinner hung up and Mulder looked at Scully. She looked ticked, madder then he's seen her in a long time. "You know he's right Mulder, you're not a good liar," "Neither are you. If you wouldn't have made it so obvious at the meeting that you were upset, maybe he wouldn't have found out. He didn't find out everything but you were so close to blowing it Scully," "Mulder, I am sorry. I haven't lost control like that for a long time, you see what you do to me..."(she paused and let her voice whisper the last few words) "Well, he was going to find out sooner or later that we were there," Mulder said raising his voice. "Well, it's certainly not good that he has loss trust in us. That's why I wanted you to stop in the first place," Scully explained. "Stop what Scully? Kissing you? Loving you? I can't do that. If you didn't have a career on the line, you would've made love to me right in that meadow," Scully was speechless and red in the face. She knew he was partly right. But she's not the kind of girl to just have sex anywhere, anytime. Scully turned away from Mulder. She was embarrassed and extremely attracted to him. It only got worse, she never used to have feelings for Mulder(like that),maybe they just developed over the years and have now caught up with her and her biological clock. Mulder got up and walked to the other side of the bed to face her. As he put his hand on her hot face, he felt a burning tear fall onto his hand. She looked at him and he pulled her close to kiss her. She still pulled away but barely held her strength. "Mulder this is ruining everything we have. If Skinner ever found out that we felt something else for each other, he would split us up. We wouldn't be together and you'd be off the x-files," Mulder kissed her cheek and then whispered in her ear. "This isn't about Skinner. It's about us. He'll never find out if we're more careful. I need you, I need you about as much as I need air to breathe, please. Scully, I feel like I'm losing you when you pull away from me like you have been," "Mulder, I'm scared," she admitted softly. "You don't have to be scared with me. I don't want to hurt you. I want you to talk to me. Tell me your feelings instead of hiding them," "Your going to lose me if we sleep together because eventually Skinner will find out and split us up, do you want to risk that?" she asked in a quiet voice. "At this point in time, I don't care what Skinner thinks. HE can't hurt our relationship. It's been so long since I have...these feelings inside of me have been building up for what feels like forever," "If you've had these feelings so long why didn't you tell me?" Scully asked. "Because I was scared too, but when my mother died I decided to hang onto my most valuable thing for fear that I'd lose it too, and that's you," Mulder began kissing her again and Scully was still trying to process what was happening. "I want to be with you Scully, I need to feel you, please," Mulder whispered. He leaned in to officially kiss her. She sucked on his lower lip as he chose the top of her lip. He ran his tongue along the edges of her mouth and then parted her lips all the way. He entered his tongue, tasting all of her. He kept kissing as he pulled her robe down her shoulders. She just leaned back on the bed and let him, she was tired of fighting everything, her feelings, Mulder, Skinner, her cancer. Mulder kissed her stomach and then grabbed her hips to lift her to sit up. He unsnapped her bra and threw it on the floor. Scully began to moan, the tension had built up so much. Mulder starred at her chest and whispered, "You are so beautiful, I never realized what I was missing by not telling you. I love you Scully," Mulder leaned back down touching her breasts and kissed her mouth. They both entered their fantasies with open arms and let the feelings take over their bodies. It was about five o'clock in the evening when Mulder's stomach awoke him. He laid in bed with his arms around Scully. The feeling of her soft skin touching every inch of him was an incredible thing in it's self. He pulled a strand of red hair behind Scully's ear and watched her sleep. He didn't want to get up. He shifted slightly to remove himself from her and she woke up. She turned over and laid her head on his chest. "How do you feel now?" Mulder asked. She smiled and closed her eyes. "Um...Mulder," "Yes?" "That was really wonderful. Your right it has been a long time for the both of us. But you have to promise me we won't do this again because I don't want to lose you either. We just have to put aside our feelings and keep everything quiet," Scully explained clearly worried and beginning to build her brick walls back up around herself after Mulder just tore them down. "Are you saying this is a one time thing?" Scully lifted her head to face him. "Mulder, as incredible as it felt we can't keep indulging ourselves in this pleasure. It's only going to haunt us. I think we can keep one time quiet but if we keep having sex, things will get harder for us. It will be harder for us to stay away from each other in that respect," Just then there was a knock at Scully's door. Mulder jumped up and threw on his pants and shirt and forgot his boxers. He quickly shoved them and Scully's bra under the bed and threw her robe up to her. "Put it on and act like you're sleeping," Mulder whispered as the pounding kept on. Scully caught the robe and put it on. "Agent Mulder," Skinner's voice carried through the door. "Hurry Mulder," Scully said as he scampered across the room. Scully tried to straighten the sheets some since half of them were twisted and on the floor. Mulder opened the door to let Skinner in. "What's wrong Skinner?" Mulder greeted. "Those bones you found, they're a couple who were out there the same time you and Scully were," "Really?" "Mulder, you have to come with me," Skinner ordered. "All right, just let me tell Scully I am leaving," Mulder walked casually into the bedroom and tapped the door slightly to close it. He quickly pulled down and put his boxers on, he just didn't feel right without them. He noticed Scully's gaze at his half erection and her hidden smile. He risked Skinner's patience to jump up on the bed and kiss Scully's lips quickly but fully. Then he whispered in her ear, "About earlier, I prefer to call what we did here, making love, not just sex Scully, don't make it sound so hormonal. All though it was, I really did make love to you," Then he got up and walked into the living room where Skinner was waiting. "So what's next?" Mulder asked Skinner as they left Scully's apartment. "Well, we have to track down Mr. Maykrantz and take him into custody," "For suspicion of murder right?" Mulder asked trying to clarify things. "I guess you could say that," Skinner answered. "So what's up with the couple? How did they die?" "The bones you found are the bones of Jamie Bell and Tracey Maykrantz. They just happen to be Mr. Maykrantz's daughter and soon to be son-in-law. But, it gets weirder," "Hey, I'm your man for that, what?" "Well, the skulls are different from human skulls," "Yes, I noticed that when I found them," "My theory is that they had some kind of disease, maybe environmental," Skinner continued. Mulder had other ideas. "So where did they live?" "They lived with Mr. Maykrantz...in his basement Mulder," That's about all I know, I thought I'd leave the digging to you," Skinner finished and finally pulled into Maykrantz's dirt driveway. Mulder got out of the car and walked up to the old farmhouse. Southeast District Washington D.C. "Galloping Farms" 6:02pm "When we find him, I'll arrest him and take him to jail. You can use that time to follow this lead. After that, you're on your own. You and Scully of course," Skinner acknowledged and instructed. Mulder knocked on the door as Skinner gazed across a nearby field. They heard a door shut in the house and Skinner saw someone running from the back of the house into a cornfield. They immediately ran after the person. The chase went on for about fifteen minutes, until finally Mulder shot the suspect in the leg. OF course it was Maykrantz. Skinner approached the wounded man and read him his rights. Meanwhile, Mulder called Scully on his cell phone. "Hello?" Scully answered. "Hey, it's me," "How's it going out there with Skinner," Scully questioned before giving Mulder a chance to make a remark. "Skinner arrested Maykrantz and is taking him to the hospital then the local P.D. Can you meet me out here? We've got some work to do!" "Yes, I'll be there soon Mulder, the hospital?" "I had to shoot him in the leg to get him, then Skinner took over. Look I'll explain more when you get here," Mulder turned away from Skinner and made a light kiss sound through the phone to Scully, the he hung up. Mulder walked over to Skinner and helped him carry the limping farmer back to the car. After Skinner left, Mulder found himself very board waiting for Scully. He wanted to explore so bad but, perhaps he should wait for his partner. He walked over to the wooden front porch and sat in a rocking chair. "Gee, what do these people think? That this place is Tennessee? Who the hell would want to sit in a rocking chair when you're in the capital of the United States!?" Mulder said to himself. He shook his head thinking that there were much better things to do with your time. HE retched into his pocket and got out some sunflower seeds to keep him company. His mind drifted from farming ways to Scully. He had been waiting so long for her, to touch her, and it was so incredible. He'd never experienced anything like today in his entire life, out of all the times he needed a women to make him feel like a man, she was the best. Maybe it was true love, Mulder thought as he spit out a shell. He continued thinking, about when Skinner came banging on the door and interrupted them. Why did she pull away from him again? Just then Scully pulled up and got out of her car... "So what's going on Mulder?" Mulder listened to them hum of Scully's sweet voice echo, interrupting his thoughts. He stood up and walked towards her. "Well, let me bring you up to speed. I want to check this place out first but, later we have to go to the lab. You've gotta see these bones, I want your opinion," "What's wrong with the bones?" "They are deformed, deformed in a way we've seen before. At least I have," "How?" Scully questioned. "I don't know how. Skinner seems to think that whatever it is, it's environmental. Maybe, but not in my book," "So who are these people?" Scully asked while noticing his smirk. Her thoughts began to stray from his explanation to their encounter earlier that afternoon. She began to think about him touching her most private places, and she squirmed as the feelings rushed through her body. "Jamie Bell and Tracy Maykrantz. They lived with Jeffery Maykrantz...in his basement," "Basement?" Scully said as it was the last thing she caught him saying when she was jolted out of her daydreaming. "Yeah, that's the first place I am checking, c'mon," Mulder answered as he began walking towards the house. Scully followed as he opened the door. Mulder quietly walked through the old farmhouse, looking in every door that was closed. First he found a closet and a bathroom but, luckily door number three was the basement. Mulder pulled out his flashlight as did Scully, they couldn't find a light switch. "There's no way anyone could live down here, no lights, no windows, no fresh air," Scully commented. "Do you see what we've stumbled upon? I think Maykrantz was keeping them down here for some reason," Mulder led the way down a narrow hall and then it branched off into two rooms. Mulder went left and Scully went right. Scully slowly moved towards a hole in the wall. She had noticed it when something flickered when her flashlight hit it. In the wall was a metal plate with a mushy, smelly substance. The hole had hinges on it, like it was a window that opened for someone to put something through the wall. She was shaping her theory and didn't like it, she hoped that wasn't food on that plate. She took out her evidence kit and scarped some of the "food" into a plastic zip-lock bag and put it in her pocket. "Scully!" Mulder yelled! Scully bolted from the room to where Mulder was. "What?" she answered in a heavy breathing tone when she found him. "Hum, I think I've heard you breathe like that lately..." Mulder commented by dropping his sexual jokes. Scully gave him a look, like she would kill him, she was taking what happened between them seriously. Focusing her attention back to the real reason they were there, she looked at where his flashlight was pointing. There was a bright silver metal lab table with various lab tools and equipment around. "Oh my God," Scully whispered. Mulder turned slightly and smiled at the way she said that, of course using his dirty mind. But then he settled back down and thought that that was just sickening to turn what she said around like that, in this situation. "Oh my God is right Scully, what was going on down here?" Mulder approached a bag on one of the tables. He opened it and smelled it. "No smell," he said. He retched for his evidence kit but couldn't find it. "I think I forgot my kit, can I barrow yours?" Scully retched into her pocket and then handed it to Mulder. He used a tiny spoon to scoop a white powdery substance into the plastic baggy. "Look Scully, will you take this stuff to the lab while I look around some more?" "No, no Mulder. I'm not leaving you here alone," she answered with a strong voice. Mulder approached her. He put the bag of powder in her pocket and one hand around her waist, concentrating the palms of his hands on her hips. "I'm a big boy, I think you know that!" Mulder answered, meaning in more ways then one judging by his smirk. Scully put her hands on his firm chest, slightly pushing him away. She didn't feel comfortable doing any of this, especially in the dungeon that they were in. Not exactly the most romantic place! "If I leave, you're coming with me," she stated, shrugging off his sexual jokes. "In that case, are we going back to your place or mine?" "Mulder! Hello! We are standing in a dungeon, a homemade medical room. this is very scary and weird, I'd appreciate if you would quit putting moves on me when we're working," Scully raised her voice clearly frustrated. "I'm sorry, you're half right," "Half right?" "Yeah, only about the dungeon medical room part," Mulder smiled that boyish smile and turned to look at the room once more. "Let's get out of here, I've seen enough for one day," Scully suggested. "Are you scared Scully?" Mulder asked honestly. "No," she answered plainly trying to hide those true feelings. "I'm fine," she continued, which is her usual clue to Mulder that she's far from being fine. "No you're not fine, and you are scared," "No I am not!" Scully shouted. "Why do you try and hide things from me? It's like you don't trust me with your heart anymore," "Maybe because I'm trying to...(she closes her eyes because of tears welling up, and she lowers her tone to a whisper)...protect it form you," "Why? What did I do that made you scared of me?" "I am not scared of you, it's this place, it freaks me out. It just brings back memories of my abduction okay? Are you happy now?" Scully answered all chocked up. "Okay, I am sorry, we'll get out of here," Mulder got behind Scully and used his hand on the small of her back to guide her out of the creepy basement. Once they were at the top of the stairs the conversation started again. "What did you mean by protecting your heart?" Mulder stopped her. Her eyes teared up and she turned from him. "Answer me Scully, I just want to be able to talk like we use to. You never told me your feelings or emotions or everything you were thinking, and that's why this is hard for me, but Scully you did confide in me, now you're getting a million miles away every day that goes by," "Mulder..." she paused trying to get her self together. "Never mind, if you're not ready to talk, then fine. I'm not going to argue when no one's talking back," "I just need some space, Mulder please," Scully answered. "Okay, let's just go to the lab and get that done," Scully opened the door to leave the house. She glanced back at Mulder with his hand on his forehead. They both walked out in silence. The car ride was also in silence. Mulder was frustrated about everything, this case, Skinner and definitely Scully. They arrived twenty minutes later at the lab. Crime Lab Washington D.C. 7:35pm Rm: 2308B Mulder walked in first with Scully trailing behind as usual, it's good to know that something hasn't changed, Mulder thought. Mulder stopped for a moment in the hall. "After we are done here, I'm taking you home, I think you need some rest," "No Mulder, I gotta help you with this case. If Skinner doesn't see us working together..." Mulder cut her off. "I can't figure you out Scully. Out of seven years I've known you, I still don't understand how your brain works. First you say you need space. I am trying to give you that but then you turn around and say you need to be with me; in so many words. I'm getting more confused by the minute Scully, and I know you're confused, that's why you are doing all of this, this building walls. I knew women were complicated but I never thought you would be," Mulder turned and began walking away. "Oh by the way don't worry about Skinner," Mulder finished. "Mulder wait!" Scully shouted and started walking towards him. "Scully, let's just get this done okay. I am tired of fighting, I need time to think. I'm afraid that if this conversation goes on I will say things I don't mean. You've already got enough on your mind, I don't need to hurt you. Maybe that's what you mean by protecting you heart," Mulder continued down the hall and Scully followed. She was worried, she didn't want to fight with Mulder. She thought about how they got fighting, what really started it because she and Mulder never used to fight like this. They walked into a room with two tables of separated bones. "There's Jamie and Tracey. Look at their skulls, haven't we seen this before?" Mulder said trying to forget their previous conversation and focusing on work. "Mulder, are you implying alien?" Scully asked, "Mulder..." "It's possible, I think it's worth checking into. If they are, we have really good evidence for uncovering the truth," "Let's find out what these are first," Scully held up the bags of evidence recovered from the house. "What's that other one Scully?" referring to the bag of "food" she had found. "Well, if you would have given me a chance when we were there, I would have showed you. Anyway, I found a hole in the wall where someone (implying Maykrantz) has been feeding them. Whether or not this is food is another story," Scully handed the bags to Mulder who walked out of the room. Mulder made a left in the hallway to a window. "Hey Vinny," "Agent Mulder my man! What's up? And where's your lady partner!?" the clerk winked at Mulder. "Can you check this stuff out for me?" Mulder handed him the bags. "Yeah, sure," "How long will it take?" "A day," "A DAY!" Mulder shouted. "Hey sorry man, we're real busy," "Yeah well, call me when you get the results, you got my number right?" "Yeah," Mulder left and walked back to find Scully with her goggles on. He stood at the doorway out of her sight for just a moment studying her body. She was hunched over in her white lab coat. Her back looked tense and she was more jumpy then normal, what was going on her, he thought? "What are you doing?" Mulder questioned. "Just checking these out a little better, for my own references," "When you're finished, I'm ready to leave," Mulder replied. "I'm ready," she took off the goggles and her white 'doctor' coat. Mulder starred at her the whole time, totally undressing her with his eyes. God, why does she make me so crazy? Why can't I resist her? Mulder thought. They walked out and got into the car. "Do you want me to pick up something to eat on the way home?" Mulder offered since he was absolutely starving. "No thanks," Scully said simply and looked out the window. "You should eat something Scully, maybe you'll feel better," "I'm not hungry," Mulder gave up and started the car. I just can't figure her out, he thought again. "Are you feeling sick?" he pressed. This was not normal Scully behavior, in fact none of these past few days were. "No, just a little weak," "Do you think it's you cancer?" Mulder asked concerned. "Maybe some of the weakness," Scully answered. "Is that why you're building up walls around yourself? To make you feel strong?" "I am not building walls Mulder," "Yes you are Scully. You are pushing me out and I don't know what to do or how to help. It's starting to effect the way we work together," "That's because your mixing work with pleasure Mulder, you can't keep doing this," "I'm didn't do anything, I just simply put my hand on your waist. I just did that to help you feel secure. I could tell that place made you uncomfortable," "But what about the things you said?" Scully remarked. "So I made a few "sexual" jokes. What's the big deal?" "We were trying to work, Mulder," "So, no one was around," "Yeah, but what if there had been? And you've changed Mulder. You would have never said that to me before we slept together," "Is that the problem? That I'm trying to show you that I enjoyed that or that I love you and you just think it's...it's," Mulder couldn't find the word. "It's not that," "Then what is it Scully? I don't know about you but I'm tired of fighting. We've only been fighting one day but it feels. I feel like there's a wall between us now. I try to go around it, I try to go under it, and I just can't get through to you. You Scully, that's all I want at this point. You must be the only one who can break down that wall because I've tried," "Mulder, I need you to help me," she whispered. "I don't know what to do, tell me," Mulder looked over at Scully who was very red in the face. She was leaning her head on the window with tears rolling down her face. With all the conversation Mulder didn't realize what was going on. "Scully...Scully? What's wrong?" Mulder pulled off the road onto the shoulder. He unbuckled his seat belt and leaned over to Scully. "Scully, talk to me, what's wrong?" "I need to go to the..." she whispered in a soft voice straining for strength. "Scully," Mulder felt her face it was burning, her tears were burning, she was sweating and beginning to shake. "Scully, stay calm, your sick and I'm taking you to the hospital," Mulder threw on his seat belt and pulled out into traffic. He grabbed his cell phone and called her doctor. Scully reached her hand up in the air. "Mulder, please hold me," she moaned and whispered. Mulder grabbed her hand and let her squeeze it as much as she wanted. Mulder pulled into the hospital parking lot and over to the E.R......... Blue field Memorial Hospital 7:55pm Emergency Room He got out and ran over to get Scully. He gently pulled her out and carried her in his arms. She could barely breathe and she had her eyes closed. Mulder carried her into the emergency room and the doctors instructed him to put her down on the bed near by.. Doctor Barns was waiting. "What happened?" he asked. "I don't know, we were talking in the car and the next thing I knew she was crying. Then her face got hot, red and sweaty. In the parking lot she could barely breathe," Mulder explained. "Okay, get her on oxygen," the doctor shouted at the assistance as they wheeled her down the hall. "Where are you taking her?" Mulder yelled. "I'll be in touch Mulder, I've gotta take care of her," Doctor Barns insisted. Mulder turned not sure of what to do with himself. He walked over to the waiting room and pulled out his cell phone. He pushed some buttons and then the phone began ringing. "Hello," answered Ms. Scully. "Ms. Scully? I'm glad I caught you. This is..." "Fox! How are you? Is everything okay?" asked Ms. Scully. Mulder was stunned she knew his voice. "I've been much better. It's about Dana," "Fox, what's wrong?" Ms. Scully began to panic. "I wish I would've let you know earlier but we didn't think it was a big deal nor did we have the time to call you," "We? What's going on?" Ms. Scully was becoming confused and worried. "A few days ago, Dana became sick very fast, within seconds. One minute she was fine and the next...Well I took her to the hospital and it turns out her cancer has gone out of remission," Mulder said. He heard Ms. Scully begin to sniffle like she was crying.. "So what's going to happen now?" she said in a weak low voice. "Well, the doctor gave her some medicine to try for a few days. So she did and she was fine. That's why we didn't call you. But today, in the car, she grew very ill when I was taking her home, so I took her to the hospital instead. I'd like you to be here when she wakes up," Mulder finished. "I'll be right there!" she said and hung up. Mulder hung up and sat there for a minute with his hands on his face. He wanted to cry but not here and not now, he told himself. Just then his cell rang. "Agent Mulder," Skinner's voice boomed through the phone. "Yes?" "The local P.D. can only hold Maykrantz three hours without solid proof that he did kill someone," "Since when? He's a murder suspect," Mulder yelled confused and angered. "New law I guess. So what did you find at the house?" he asked. Just then Dr. Barns walked out. "Sir, I'll have to call you back," "Mulder!" Skinner shouted as he hung up the phone. HE immediately got up to greet the doctor. "What's going on?" Mulder asked. "Was she sick the whole time she was taking this medicine?" the doctor asked. "No, she was fine one minute and the next she was gravely ill," "From what I can tell, she had a reaction to the medicine I gave her. Her body is now attacking the medicine instead of the cancer," the doctor concluded. Just then Ms. Scully walked up to their conversation. "Dr. Barns, this is Dana's mother, Maggie," Mulder introduced them. "So what do we do next?" Maggie asked very concerned. "Well, I'd like to try a new experimental drug with your permission of course," "What is this drug?" Mulder asked curiously. "It's called dyhydrosymplex formula, it attacks small cancerous cells, in which case it's perfect for Dana. If you may recall, Dr. Wood operated on Dana a few years back and was very successful. There is not much cancer left in her body. But it's enough to make her sick and weak. I think this new drug will help attack the small amount of cancer left in her, enough to make her have a life again," explained Dr. Barns. "What kinds of side effects are there?" Mulder asked. "Well, that depends, especially since it's experimental and it works differently on different people. In Dana's case, nosebleeds may be common, sleepiness, in the beginning she may not have any energy. Your metabolism greatly decreases when your body is fighting an illness," "yes, you can go ahead and use the drug," Ms. Scully decided. "Okay, thank you. I'll need your signature and her father's," Dr. Barns said. "Her father, has passed away," "Oh I am sorry. Is there anyone else close to her, someone who's with her a lot?" "Me, what about me?" Mulder replied. "You're her partner right?" Dr. Barns asked. "Yeah," "Okay, I don't see why not. Here's the papers, when you're done just give them to that nurse over there, her name is Sherry," The doctor handed them a clip board and pointed to a lady at the main nurses corner. Then he began to walk away. "Dr. Barns, when can we see her?" Mulder shouted for him. "Right now, room number 302. She's sleeping, okay," the doctor continued talking as he walked down the hall and into another room. Mulder walked down the hall and into Scully's room. She was lying on a bed hooked up to oxygen and other junk. Mulder pulled a chair over to her bed side and held her hand. "I know you're sleeping, but you can here me," Mulder started, "God...I've been here with you so many times. In this very chair, holding your hand. I'm so tired of seeing you like this. You deserve more and I'm going to help give you that. I know you're tired too, tired of fighting, fighting everything. Whatever you do, stop fighting me, stop fighting us, hold onto that strength I know you have deep inside you, and come back to me. You're a strong women Scully, you can do anything, you can beat this, you have before, and you've come so far, we've come so far," Mulder paused. Scully squeezed his hand and he looked up at her. "Mulder...I need you, please help me," Scully whispered slowly trying to get air and words. "I'm here, I'm not going anywhere. I'm going to be here for you and you'll get better. You had a reaction to the medicine and the doctor is going to give you something else. Scully...your mom's here. I'm going to go out in the hall, so she can visit with you, okay," Mulder said slowly. "Will you come back?" she asked with a little stronger voice this time. It was as if Mulder's strength was leaking out of his hand and going into hers. "Yes," he let go of her hand and bent over her. He kissed her lips softly and said goodbye. As he turned, Ms. Scully was in the doorway watching them. Mulder didn't care anymore if anyone saw them, he loved her. Mulder's cell phone rang again once he was in the hallway. "Agent Mulder, what was that all about?" Skinner shouted. "Sir, I'm at the hospital with agent Scully," "Is she going to be okay?" "I hope, she had a reaction to her medicine, the doctor is now giving her an experimental drug," "Who's idea was that?" Skinner worried. "His, and mine, and Ms. Scully's," "Oh, well about earlier, what did you find?" "It's a long and boring story," "Does that mean you didn't find anything?" Skinner questioned. "No, we found a lot, but you'll find out in our reports, I need to think everything through before I go and tell you," "For God's sake Mulder, I am your director. If I ask you, you are supposed to tell me," "Since when have I ever done anything I am supposed to? Anyway, I wouldn't know how to explain it, I don't have all the info I need yet, okay. Now I gotta go," Mulder explained. "Wait Mulder! Do you have enough evidence to hold this man?" "I haven't even gotten a chance to interrogate him yet, and the lab results aren't back yet, I don't know," Mulder answered. "Do you want me to question him for you?" Skinner offered. "No, that's something I have to do for myself, but I told Scully that I'd stay with her," "Well, Agent Mulder you can't be in two places at once, and you've got less then two hours to find something to hold this man with," Skinner hung up and Mulder looked down at the floor. Since when do we have twenty-four hours to hold a suspect? Mulder was confused but decided to go to the jail later and find out. Mulder walked back into Scully's room where he found her sitting up and awake. "You're looking better already," Mulder replied as he approached her. He sat down next to her, put his head down for a minute and was very quiet. "Mulder, what's wrong?" she sensed. He looked at her and she knew something was up. "Go, Mulder, it's okay," she said. He looked at her with these questions in his eyes; How did you know I had to leave and how did you know what I was thinking? Mulder glanced back at Ms. Scully in a chair. "Will you stay with her?" she nodded and he looked back at Scully. "I'm a big girl Mulder, I think you know that by now!" she smiled because she stole his joke. Mulder smiled and kissed her on the cheek this time. "I love you," he whispered in her ear. He began walking to the door but still looking at her. She mouthed the words 'I love you too' and he left. As he walked out of the room he heard Ms. Scully mention that she noticed a different light around the way Mulder was treating her, with much more passion. Mulder immediately drove to the crime lab hoping he could pull some strings and get his evidence analyzed first. Crime Lab Washington D.C. 8:28pm June 25, Sunday "Hey Mulder, what's shakin'?" Vinny asked as if he didn't know. "I need that evidence analyzed now!" Mulder shouted, very frustrated. "Hey man, look at the desk," Vinny pointed to the desk piled with bags that other agents had dropped off. "I'm the only one here, I can't work that fast!" he tried to reason with Mulder. "Look, I suggest you call someone to help you. I need that information in less than a half hour. If my suspect gets out of jail tonight, because of you, you will be fired and the terror he has caused will rest on your head!" Mulder yelled in anger. "Do you understand me?" "Yes sir, I'll do yours right now. It'll be about ten minutes," answered Vinny who was now in a serious mood. "Hurry," Mulder remarked. He sat on a chair near by anxiously waiting. He pulled out his cell phone to call Scully. "Hello?" she said softly. "Hey, has the doctor seen you yet?" Mulder asked. "Yeah, and he...and a nurse came in and gave me my new medicine," she said slowly. "Are you feeling any better yet?" Mulder asked with hope. "A little, at least I can talk, and I'm a little hungry," "Good! Eat, eat the whole cafeteria if it makes you feel better!" Mulder said jokingly. She made a small laughing sound which Mulder was glad to hear. "Where are you?" she questioned. "The crime lab. I'm forcing these guys to analyze our evidence first. In less then an hour they'll release Maykrantz if I don't get solid evidence on him," "Oh no, Mulder you have to stop them," "I know, I'm working on it. My biggest problem right now is that I am starving. Do you recall my last meal? I can't, it's hard to work on an empty stomach. Make sure you eat enough for me too okay?" "As soon as you secure Maykrantz, go have a big sub! Scully remarked. "Yeah, that sounds good, hey I gotta go, they're done. Hope you feel better," "Thanks, I'll see you later," Scully said and hung up. Mulder thought about how much better sounding she was. She wasn't whispering much anymore, hopefully that's a good thing. "Mulder," Vinny shouted and jolted Mulder out of his thoughts. "Here," Mulder jumped up and grabbed the papers and ran out the door. In the car he tried reading and driving at the same time! "What the hell is a Bordeaux mixture?" he asked himself. He laid the paper down on the seat and used his cell phone to call Scully again. "Hey Scully, I got the results. Sorry to bother you again," "That's okay, what is it?" "Something rang a bell but I don't know what it is," Mulder began. "What is a Bordeaux mixture?" "Um, let me think," she paused. "I think it's some kind of pesticide or fungicide. It sounds like it's made of lime or copper sulfate. I think it had something to do with the ending of the Ireland potato famine in the 1840's," "Well, that would explain the so called "food" you found and the powder," Mulder responded. "Really? What is it?" "A mixture of Bordeaux stuff, potatoes, corn, and raw eggs. That must of been what he was feeding them. Have you got any ideas on what this stuff can do to humans, since it's supposed to be used only on plants?" "I have no idea. What was the powder we found?" Scully asked. "It was purely dithiocarbamtes, do you know what that is?" "Gee, I can tell you're not a farm boy," "This isn't just farm stuff Scully, this is chemistry, science, something you're much better at. So what is it?" "It's just sulfur containing compounds, nothing big. It's purely the stuff in farmer's crop sprayers," "So what's it doing in someone's yucky food?" Mulder asked. "That's for you to find out Mulder," "Yeah, thanks for the help. Get some rest," "I've been trying to but, someone keeps calling me very fifteen minutes," "Sorry, I'm just worried and it's really really hard working without you. Well, I'm almost to the jail so I gotta go," "Bye," Scully said and clicked off. He thought for a moment, finally they weren't fighting so much, and for a few moments they were actually back to working with each other, the way it used to be, as a team, instead of all the fighting, maybe it's going to be okay, he thought. Mulder hung up and pulled into the jail parking lot. It was beginning to rain and Mulder just wanted to get done so he could eat a late dinner. Arlington Jail House June 25, Sunday 9:12pm "Excuse me, I'm Fox Mulder with the FBI," Mulder held up his badge. "I need to speak with Sergeant Bloom, please," "Uhh, I'm sorry, sergeant Bloom's shift is over for the night, he went home. I'm colonel Brown, can I help you?" "Maybe, earlier today, my superior Agent Walter Skinner brought in Jeffery Maykrantz," "Um, yes, I'm familiar with Mr. Maykrantz," "Well, I'm under the impression that you need evidence to hold him?" "Yes, our jails just under went that new law as of June first," "Well, that is an issue I'm not happy with, it used to be twenty-four hours, now it's what?" "Only four sir," "Why wasn't the Federal Bureau notified of this when it's a federal law which was changed?" "I don't know sir, you'll have to ask your superior," "Well, here's my evidence," Mulder said and pulled the analysis out of his pocket. "Here's proof that Mr. Maykrantz was feeding his daughter and son-in-law fungicides, his handprints were there," "And this killed them?" colonel Brown asked. "As far as we know, we can't be sure yet, the only thing we have is bones. We just need this to buy us some time so we can figure out what really happened. I haven't even gotten a chance to question him yet, in a jail cell that is," "When do you plan on doing that?" asked Brown. "Tomorrow. Look, I am positive we have the right guy, hold him," Mulder insisted. "All right, I'll hold him. You should contact sergeant Bloom in the morning and tell him what's going on," colonel Brown walked over to the copy machine and duplicated the analysis. "I have to put this in the case file," he explained and then handed Mulder the original copy. "Thank you," Mulder said and left the building. It was pouring outside; a cold rain too, Mulder thought. He ran to his car and jumped in. Mulder got out his cell phone and tried to call Skinner... "Skinner?" he answered. "Wow sir, you're still at the office?" "Yeah Mulder, I got a lot of work to do, what is it?" "Since when do Federal employees not have twenty-four hours to hold a suspect? Mulder asked clearly angered. "Since June first Agent," "Why wasn't I notified?" "You were," "No I wasn't!" Mulder shouted. "Agent Mulder, I don't like your tone of voice. I sent a notice to all agents," "Who delivered them?" asked Mulder becoming suspicious. "Agent Spender, why?" "That explains it," "Explains what?" Skinner asked. "Your little delivery boy doesn't like me much, I'm sure he just..." "Now wait just a minute. He is a professional and wouldn't let his personal feelings towards you get in the way of delivering a simple message. That's speculation and I expect for from you Agent Mulder," Skinner finished his little speech and hung up. Mulder threw the phone in his passenger seat and started the car. He headed to a fast food restaurant, which would still be open at ten o'clock. He got a burger and fries and ate on the way back to the hospital. Bluefield Memorial Hospital 10:18pm Section C Rm:231 Mulder entered the hospital and told a nurse that he was staying the night, since she mentioned that visiting hours were over. Mulder continued down the hall. He walked into Scully's room, sipping his coke quietly. He sat down on the chair facing the window and he peered outside. He watched the rainfall onto the parking lot and a few seconds later he heard a familiar voice. "I didn't think you'd be back tonight," Scully said. "I'm sorry, did I wake you?" "No," "I told you I'd be back, I said I'd be here for you," Mulder recalled as Scully smiled. The room was dark; the only light came from the parking lot lights through the window and the hallway lights, but Mulder's eyes had already adjusted enough to see her smile. He could see her fair skin in the dark. He got up and walked over to her side and sat in the other chair. "I want to sit up Mulder but, I need help," "Okay," Mulder acknowledged and put his hand behind her back. He slowly lifted her up and put a pillow behind her. "There, all better?" "Thank you," Scully said in gratitude. "So, you got the evidence to hold Maykrantz?" she asked. just then a nurse walked in and their conversation halted. They both were stunned, it was a male nurse. "Hello. It was shift change just a half hour ago. My name is Jacob," Scully looked over at Mulder with astonishment on her face. Of course there are male nurses but she had never had one before. "Hi," Scully said still partly speechless. "This your husband?" Jacob asked referring to Mulder. She looked down at the bed sheets. "No, no this is Fox Mulder. He's my friend and partner," she answered truthfully, leaving out whatever else they had going on. "Partner? What kind of work do you do?" the nurse questioned more. "Um, FBI," "Really?" he said surprised. He put a needle in her IV and turned to his chart. "Yes," Scully answered back. "So how are you feeling? The doctor gave you a new drug," "She's feeling better," Mulder butted in. Scully shot him a 'what are you going, shut up' grin. "Good, I'll be back to see you later," and with that he left. "What was that about?" Scully asked Mulder, referring to his input. "I wanted some of your attention," "Mulder, you always have my attention, admit it you're jealous!" Mulder turned away and seemed to make a fake laugh. "Jealous, I'm not jealous. That kid is probably fifteen years younger than you," "So, he's nice," "Yeah. Okay I'm not going to argue about this. Yes, I got the evidence," Just then another interruption, Dr. Barns appeared in the doorway. "Hey Dana, how are you feeling?" asked Dr. Barns. Scully began thinking that if she heard that phrase one more time, urgggrh! "Fine thanks," giving Mulder a look, showing that she answered the question. "I see you've met my son, Jacob," "Yes, he was very charming," Scully answered. "He's going to college to become a doctor and working her at night. He'll be here when you need him, okay. This is my last round for the night," "When will she be released?" Mulder asked. "Hopefully tomorrow. I'll be able to know more by morning. Now Miss Scully, I wanted to know if you were experiencing any side effects today before Mr. Mulder here brought you in?" Dr. Barns took off her oxygen while waiting for an answer. "Well, I was feeling kind of dizzy and weak but that's all," "You did?" Mulder asked surprised. "Why didn't you call me right away?" "I didn't think it was anything," Scully answered truthfully. "Well, you may be a doctor yourself, but you're no oncologist. Next time call me, we probably could've prevented this. It is especially crucial now, since we're dealing with an experimental drug, okay," Dr. Barns gave Scully a hug and shook hands with Mulder, then left. "Why didn't you tell me you felt sick?" Mulder began interrogating....... "Like I said, I didn't think it was anything. I can't believe that was his son!" Scully commented changing the subject. "Yeah, poor guy. He has to be a nurse first," Mulder chuckled. "Men can be nurses just like women can be FBI agents. Why do you think that's a bad thing?" "I don't know, I've just always pictured nurses being women, many of them in my time have been uplifting!" "Because of what?" Scully said just to see if she could get his deep down testosterone feelings out. "Because," he paused and smiled shyly. "Maybe their sexiness," Mulder chocked out which was what he was afraid he would say but his choice of words came out wrong. "Sexiness, well wouldn't you think it would be the same thing for a women to have sexy male nurse?" "You think I'm sexy?" Jacob chuckled as he walked into Scully's room. Oh my, Scully thought. She blushed and her cheeks got hot. "Sorry, I didn't mean to intrude in your conversation, I just thought it was funny. Um, I forgot to check your heart. I missed that on the chart and my father caught it," Mulder just started to smile for a moment just cracking up inside, he thought Scully' embarrassment in this situation was just hilarious. "Could you sit up a little more?" Scully shifted slowly, now more embarrassed then ever. The nurse slightly opened the back of her gown and presses the cold stethoscope on her back. Jacob could feel her shiver and he new she was uncomfortable for some reason. "Just a little tip as a doctor, use your breath on that thing to warm it up first," Scully noted. "Sorry, I'll remember that, deep breath please," Scully took a deep breath and Mulder had to leave the room, he was making Scully laugh by smiling, and he was about to laugh out loud. He paced out in the hallway just smiling at Scully's face in his head. "Okay, I have to do the front too and I was instructed by my father not to do it through the gown. He says it creates error in the readings that are too important when using experimental drugs," he tried to explain. Scully thought, 'sure he told you that' but then she tried to take it seriously, she trusted her doctor. Scully began to feel awkward and hoped Mulder wouldn't walk in and see what was happening and kill this poor kid. She pulled the gown off her arms. This time Jacob stalled, just starring at her as if he'd never seen a bra or a women before; then he blew on the stethoscope. He was probably only in his early 20's, Scully thought it was somewhat amusing, his stares. Then Scully smiled, because he took her advice on the stethoscope. It was still cold though as he pressed it near her heart. Scully's heart was actually throbbing from everything, the embarrassment and the turn on of him. "Well you're still alive that's for sure," he joked, ignoring the fast beats. He began to write on the chart as Mulder walked in and saw Scully sitting there with just her bra on. He stopped dead in his tracks and starred. He was more focused on her beauty then he was of wonder why it was being shown at this time. "Okay, I'm finished here, I'll be back later to check in on you," he said and smiled at her. Mulder waited until he left to speak. "What...What was he doing?" Mulder asked clearly jealous or worried, or mad; Scully couldn't figure it out. "Checking my heart," Scully said and smiled. Then she put her gown back over her arms and up to her neck. "Could you tie this for me?" Mulder went over to her and reached for the dangling strings. His hands felt so warm, compared to that stethoscope. "Couldn't he do that over the gown?" Mulder asked. "No," she answered plainly, giving him lame answers on purpose to heighten his jealousy. "Before you tie that would you rub my shoulders?" Mulder was somewhat mad at her, he knew she was doing this on purpose but he did as she asked. "Oh, that feels so good," "Why are you doing this to me?" he asked. "Because it's funny and because you thought it was funny a few minutes ago when we were talking and Jacob overheard. I got you back," Mulder massaged her neck and used his hands to tilt her head back. He turned his head slightly and began to kiss her. He kept going down her neck with his tongue. Then he moved his hands down her back and around to her stomach. At this point, reality jolted Scully from Mulder's caresses, and she moved Mulder's hands. "Mulder stop, we can't do this here," Scully said in a serious voice. "Why not? We got a door that locks!" "Mulder no," she said firmly and pulled away from him. He stopped and tied up her gown. Then he faced her again and kissed her long and hard. "Mulder, we should get some sleep, okay," she said while still kissing him back. "Um hum, okay," he said still kissing her using his tongue to tease her. His breathing became more rapid and so did hers. "I mean it," she said. "I mean it too," he said still kissing her. "You stop first," he murmured. "I don't want to, you," she said still kissing him back in between words. "No," he said and then she finally stopped and pulled away. "Why do I always have to be the one to stop you...this?" she quickly brushed off that question which she didn't mean to speak, she only wanted to think it. "Let's just get some sleep Mulder," "Yeah, it looks like I'm going to need it, for when we get out of here," Mulder somewhat joked and saw Scully's face, she got his joke only she started thinking, that may be true, No stop it! she told herself. Mulder said goodnight and helped her lay back down. He covered her up, turned off the lights and went to sit in 'his' chair. Bluefield Memorial Hospital Section C Rm. 231 9:36am Jacob had come in every half hour to check on Scully and Mulder slept through every visit, he was exhausted. But the sunshine awoke him, figuratively speaking. "Good morning Mulder," Scully said. "Wow, you're looking so much better than you were yesterday," Mulder explained. "I feel much better, what are you going to do today?" "I am going to question Maykrantz," Mulder said as his eyes drifted to the door. Dr. Barns appeared bright and early. "Good morning, how are you doing?" he smiled asking Scully. "I am feeling much better," "Good, I wanna send you home today Dana, we don't have much room here at the hospital these days and I think you're gonna be okay. Now, the most important thing, the slightest little pain or dizziness, or weakness, anything, call me, okay?!!" The doctor explained. "Really, she can go home?" Mulder asked surprised and happy. "Yes, she can," "Is there anything special she needs to do?" Mulder continued questioning. "She can do anything she feels up to doing," he confirmed. "Do you think it would be okay for her to come with me, on this case?" Mulder asked hopingly rushing things. "I don't see why not, as long as she feels okay and you try to keep her out of as much danger as possible, and things involving running, that's not good for her," he continued. "All right thanks, thanks for all you've done really," Mulder commented. "Well, she's lucky she has someone like you by her side, you know not many people are like that, it's hard to find a good friend, I hope you cherish it and use it forever," the doctor said giving his wisdom. Scully looked down at the bed and smiled slightly. Mulder smiled too and shook his head agreeing. "Um, Dana, last night after you feel asleep, Jacob saw your mom come in for a few minutes. She brought you some clothes, they're in that drawer," Dr. Barns motioned to a drawer to her bed. "Thanks...hum, what are mommy's for huh?" she smile and Mulder and Dr. Barns smiled back. Then Dr. Barns left the room and left Mulder and Scully alone. So, do you feel to getting things back to the way they're supposed to be? You know...working?" Mulder asked with some hidden messages in his eyes. "Yes, I feel good enough to go with you. We are just questioning him right?" "Yes, we are," "Okay, after that Mulder, I am dying to go home and get a shower okay?" she mentioned. "That's fine, but I have to stop at the office first and get a case file and talk to Skinner briefly, is that okay?" "Sure, I guess I'll live right?" Scully said smiling. Mulder thought, I love that smile! "You better live, after all this heartache you've put me through women!" Mulder said laughing. Now Mulder was beginning to sound different with his words, to Scully. Was he meaning the heartache from the cancer scare, or the fact that she was resisting her incredible urge to make love to him? "Mulder, will you help me get dressed?" she asked him, hoping it wouldn't tempt him too much, but then again it's Mulder and he's a man! "Sure," Mulder answered with a slight grin. Mulder walked over to her bed and to the drawer next to it. He pulled out a shirt and black jeans and a pair of socks and panties of course, and a thin white-laced bra. Mulder tried to avoid his thoughts and focused on being serious. He thought, I'm actually better at undressing you than dressing you. He then untied her gown. "Here, pull down your hospital gown," Mulder said. He unhooked the bra she had on so she could change. He was standing behind her and could only see the outline of her curves as it slide off. He reached over her head with the clean bra, so that it was facing the right way, then Scully took it and put the wire under her breasts. Mulder then hooked it in the back. Scully was only somewhat embarrassed, she wasn't sure what Mulder was thinking, he was being so quiet. Mulder just kept on being professional for the moment and did what she asked. Then he slipped the shirt over her head and when it was finally on, he smoothed her hair with his hands. It was so soft and silky, he could touch it all day! "Thanks Mulder," she said, desperately ending the silence. Mulder nodded but she couldn't see him, cause he was still behind her. He handed her the panties barely touching them, trying not to intrude. "I am guessing you can do this on your own, or do you need my help?" Mulder said jokingly but somewhat hopeful and somewhat turned on. "Yes, I can, thank you," she said and smiled as he walked back in front of her. He went and sat down in the chair, and then watched Scully's amusing act of her trying to take off and put on panties while trying to keep the blanket up to her stomach. I should've just went in the bathroom, she thought. He stared to giggle and she looked over at him. "Shut up Mulder! Why don't you try this sometime and see what it's like!" she smiled. "Humm, I'd love to try that sometime, with you," Mulder said, letting one of those jokes slip again, oops! Scully brushed off the comment and pulled down the blanket. Just then Mulder got a sight of her in her panties as she attempted to put on her jeans. He thought of their night together and he suddenly became hard. Not now buddy, he said to himself, kind-of telling his sex to calm down. Scully moved her legs off the bed and stood up to pull up the pants. She suddenly lost her balance and started to fall.. Mulder quickly got up and grabbed her from falling. They met each other's gaze as Mulder steadied her. He put his hands in two of her belt loops and pulled her pants up over her hips. He backed away when he realized Scully wanted to finish dressing herself. He stood rather close to her as she brought her hands up to button the jeans. She watched herself, button, as did he. Scully felt Mulder's eyes on her and then they looked at each other again. "Let's get out of here Mulder," she said trying to forget that arousing incident, until the memory was needed again. "All right we're off to see the Wizard the wonderful Wizard of Oz!" Mulder said and started laughing. "Were did that come from? Out of the sky?" Scully said laughing at his unexpected humor. "It came from Oz! No really, I don't know, it just popped into my head," Scully just smiled and they turned to gather the rest of her stuff. Mulder put his hand on her lower back to escort her out. In The Car June 26, Monday 10:14am Mulder got in and fastened his seat belt. He sat for a moment fiddling with the radio. "What station do you want?" Mulder asked. "It doesn't matter," Scully answered. Mulder started the car and pulled out of the hospital parking lot. "You're feeling okay, right?" Mulder asked. "Um hum," Scully murmured and smiled at him. HE kept station surfing until the words of a song stopped him. He began to listen and soon determined that it was country. It wasn't his favorite type of music, but the words seemed to stall him: I am not always strong And sometimes I'm even wrong But I win when I choose and I can't stand to lose But I can't always be the rock that you see When the nights get too long and I just can't go on The women in me, needs you to be The man in my heart... Mulder listen closely to the words and then looked over at Scully. She had her hands in her lap and she was looking at the radio. Her gaze caught Mulder's and they just looked at each other. Mulder turned away because he knew that Scully knew he could see right through her. The words perfectly described her feelings, they continued listening: ...to hold tenderly Cause I'm a women in love, and it's you I run to yeah the women in me needs the man in you when the world wants too much and it feels cold and out of touch it's a beautiful place, when you kiss my face... As they listened, Mulder's right hand crept over to grab her hand on her lap. She flinched lightly at his touch, which jolted her out of her concentration on the words of the song. Scully held his hand and scooted a little closer to him. "Are you okay? With this?" Mulder asked thinking of her feelings and the affection of holding hands. "Yes," she said plainly. She thought, I am not used to this, him knowing my feelings without me saying anything. A few years ago, I was really good at hiding my feelings, he knew something was up but he never knew exactly what, now he knows all the time. The song was finally over and Mulder was just about to change the station when he heard a familiar voice. "This is the Monday request line, and who do you dedicate this song to?" the DJ asked. "To my daughter and her partner," Mulder and Scully shot each other a shocked glance when they heard the familiar voice. "And your name, ma'am?" the DJ went on. "Margaret," Scully's mother's voice boomed on the radio. Scully dropped Mulder's hand and turned the radio station. "Oh my God," she said. "I second that," Mulder mentioned. "That was freakier than some monster's we've seen," Mulder somewhat joked. "I don't understand. We never listen to country. How was that our luck that we even heard that?" Scully said in amazement. "I don't know I guess some things are better left unexplained," Mulder joked quoting her from a previous case and a previous conversation. "So was it right Scully?" "What do you mean?" she asked somewhat playing dumb. "The words of that song, were they true?" "Mulder I already said 'I love you' I have kissed you recently," "That doesn't answer my question Scully," "Yes Mulder, I sometimes need you," she admitted. "Sometimes?" Mulder kept pumping out information on her feelings. "Yes sometimes Mulder. Unlike you I don't constantly need to hear sweet words or be kissed by a man. I've gone three years without that, I'm not that depended on you," she frowned after she said that, "I am sorry, I didn't mean for it to sound that way," "No it's okay. But I don't constantly need that either, I've gone three years since my last date too, okay?" "You're right I am sorry," "You don't have to apologize," There was a weird silence that fell between them and Mulder didn't like it. All of the sudden, he unbuckled his seat belt and swerved off the road onto the shoulder. No one was around as he stopped the car and turned off the radio. "Mulder...Mulder, what the hell are you doing?" Scully shouted as he moved in his seat. He leaned over to her and kissed her slowly. HE used his hands on her cheeks to move her closer to him. Scully began kissing back, still in a daze as to why this was happening. Mulder moved his hand down beside her seat to unbuckle her seat belt and pull the lever to lower her seat so she was laying down. Then he inched his way over her, until he was laying on top of her. "Mulder..." she moaned. Mulder's breath was getting heavy as he finally entered his tongue into her misty sweet mouth. "Um," she moaned more as he slightly involuntarily bucked his hips to hers. He moved his hands down her shirt, outlining her curves then squeezing her breast. "Mulder not here," she moaned and pushed him away again, removing his hands. "We have work to do right now, there is a time and place for everything," she said as he lifted his head from her neck. "C'mon, the car is a fun place," "Mulder no, it's too small and cramped," Scully said making excuses and actually knowing from experience. "Do you promise we can finish this later?" Mulder asked seriously. "I can't promise anything, I may not feel up to it," she said smiling, knowing the torture she was giving him. Mulder smiled back and exhaled, he was enjoying this chase. "Okay, let's go get this over with," he said as he crawled back into his seat. Once he restarted the car, he realized they were only about three minutes from the jail. He pulled away and the rest of the drive was silent. Arlington Jail House June 26, Monday 11:25am "Agent Mulder, nice to see you again," said Mr. Bloom as Mulder and Scully entered. "Yeah, nice to see you too. This is my partner Dana Scully, and this is sergeant Bloom," Mulder introduced them. "Nice to meet you," he said to Scully and nodded and she nodded back. "Did you talk to Cornel Brown today?" Mulder asked. "Yes, well, he left me a message that you got evidence on Maykrantz," "Yes, we did and we'd like to question him right now," Mulder requested. "Sure, follow me," he said and led them through a door and down the hall, stopping at gates to unlock them. Mulder recognized Maykrantz instantly and approached his cell as Mr. Bloom opened the gate. "Please standby Mr. Bloom," Mulder ordered. He nodded and Mulder entered the cell with Scully at his side. "Mr. Maykrantz," Mulder verified. "This is the guy who shot me!" Maykrantz yelled at Mr. Bloom. "Sir please calm down, we are only here to question you, you can clear your name," Scully began by reminding him. "I ain't talkin', ain't got no lawyer present," Maykrantz pointed out. "Just answer their questions Maykrantz. It's being taped by that camera up there, you've got nothin' to fear," Mr. Bloom mentioned trying to get him to cooperate. "I ain't answerin' nothin'!" he shouted once more. "Sir, is Tracey Maykrantz your biological daughter?" Mulder tried to begin. "Yes," he murmured. "What do you use lime in your household for?" Mulder continued. "The fields," he said giving short answers. Mulder continued since he seemed to be cooperating now. "Then why was it found in your house and not in the barn or something?" "I had just brought it in from the store, hadn't had a chance to take it to the barn yet," "Why did you put it your basement?" "I just threw it down there for safe keeping," "When you buy lime, what sort of size packages can you get it in?" Mulder interrogated. "All sizes," "Well, what's the smallest?" "I don't know, a five pound bag I guess," "What do you normally buy?" Scully jumped in. "The biggest bag," "Then why was a small amount of it found in a zip lock bag on a table in your basement," Scully continued. "I don't know, maybe Tracet put it there," "Well, why would she do that?" Mulder asked suspiciously. "She often took small amounts out to put on her plants," Mr. Maykrantz surprisingly continued answering questions as if he were curious as to what the agents had found. "What about copper sulfate?" "What?" Maykrantz said wrinkling is brow. "Copper sulfate," Scully repeated. "I don't use that, don't even know what s...s...sulfate is," he stuttered denying this substance. Humm, Mulder thought, why would he deny copper sulfate but not lime? "Why do you have metal lab tables in your basement?" Mulder moved on, as Scully turned in the thought of the creepy place. "The tables, um, I use them when I butcher my cows for meat in the fall and winter time," Maykrantz said hesitating at the beginning. "Why was there a bedroom down there that didn't look very inviting?" Mulder asked recalling Scully's description of the room. "It's just a room. Look I've had enough for one day, I answered questions, I gave you information, now leave," Maykrantz suddenly snapped out of his cooperating mode. "Sir..." Mulder tried but was cut off. "Leave!" Maykrantz shouted. Mulder knew this was a losing battle so he turned to leave and Scully followed. They arrived back in the main room, with other officers in their little booths on the phones or doing paper work. "Thanks Mr. Bloom," Mulder said in gratitude. "Sure, I'm sorry you didn't get much out of him," "I think we got enough. You witnessed this, what do you think?" Scully asked Mr. Bloom. "Well he seemed awful nervous. Looks like you guys have this almost wrapped up," Mr. Bloom replied. "Almost, we still have a little digging to do," Scully answered. "Yeah, well good luck," "Thanks," Mulder said, Scully nodded and they left the building. "Now where to?" Scully asked. "The office, those files I gotta pick up remember?" Mulder answered. they got in the car and left the radio off! They didn't want to hear anymore songs, especially Scully. FBI Field Office Washington D.C. June 26, Monday 1:00pm Mulder and Scully walked down the main hallway like any other day, trying to act normal and natural. "Hey, Mulder, Scully," Agent Cook yelled. "Yeah?" Mulder answered. "Don't forget about the FBI gathering-party tonight. You know how much fun you have!" Cook mentioned sarcastically. He knew Mulder didn't like those gatherings and that Skinner had gotten mad at him back in the earlier days of his career, because of his practical jokes. "Thanks for the reminder," Mulder said smiling. They kept walking to the stairwell and headed to the basement where Mulder's office was located. "What's with basements?" Mulder said as it just dawned on him. "Hum," Scully acknowledged his comment and they entered his office. Mulder walked straight to his desk, to see that he had left his coffee pot on it's a wonder the building hasn't burned down already, it had to have been on for a day or two. "Coffee?" Mulder offered. "No thanks," she said as she walked over to his desk after shutting the door. "Okay," he said and tasted his coffee. He made a funny face, as it was way to strong and then he set it down on his desk. "So Mulder, you had to get a file?" Scully asked impatiently. "Yeah, it's around here somewhere," Mulder said searching his desk with his eyes. Scully walked over to his desk, standing in front of him. He looked at her eyes, so blue and clear, as the silence fell upon the room. He traced the outline of her v-neck shirt with his eyes, he wanted to touch her so much, at that very moment. Scully followed his eyes and when she realized what he was doing she crossed her arms. "Mulder! C'mon, I want to go home," she said trying to snap him out of his daydream. "Um...hum...," he said still starring and now licking his lips. He leaned forward very quickly and began to kiss her mouth. Scully was absolutely shocked, but went with his lead. Suddenly Mulder's hands were everywhere. He held her back and waist to pull her closer, he touched and held her hips and moved her into his hard erection. He reached around and grabbed Scully's firm bottom. "Mulder," she whispered. She ran her hands through his soft hair and caressed the back of his neck. She left his mouth and licked her way down his neck and over to his ear. Mulder began to moan as she suckled his ear lobe. He grabbed her bottom tighter and pushed her back against the file cabinet. "Whoo Mulder," she moaned somewhat from his roughness. The cabinet began to wobble as if it were going to tip over; Mulder backed away, pulling Scully with him. They met each other's gaze and thought about the mess they almost had. Mulder was afraid Scully's rational thinking would jolt her now, but their eye gazing stayed serious and focused. Mulder backed her up against the desk, gripped her bottom once more, and lifted her to sit on the desk; using his free hand to shove in-the-way papers to the floor. Scully sat, legs still closed, working off his tie as he tried to kiss her neck. She started unbuttoning his blue collar shirt (which made his eyes sparkling blue) when he moved his hands to her thighs. He moved one hand along the inside of one to tickle or excite her, the other went closer to her crotch where he nudged her to open her legs. She did, as he pushed her down on the desk and half laid/half stood between her legs. He ran his hands up her hips and was just about to cup her breasts when a knock came upon his office door. Mulder jolted up and when he did, the coffee cup spilled onto the desk and the back of Scully's pants. (Good thing they're black huh?) "Shit, Shit, Shit," Mulder cursed, "Just a minute," he said to the person waiting at the door. "I am so sorry," Mulder apologized for the spilt coffee. "It's okay, hurry," she said re-buttoning his shirt for him. The door began creeping open. "Agent Mulder, Scully," Skinner started and then stopped for a minute to scan the room, "What's going on in here?" "Um," Mulder stalled and looked at Scully's wide blue eyes, "We had a little accident with the coffee, sir," Mulder answered pointing to the cup that was spilt. Skinner eyed the crumbled papers on the floor and the spilt mug. "Oh," he answered. Then his eyes met Mulder's again, "Agent Cook said he saw you, why don't you two wanna join the party tonight?" he asked. "Oh, well we just stopped by to get a case file, Scully and I have a lot of work to do," Mulder exaggerated, but hey it sounded good! "All right, but you know these celebrations, you're missing all the fun," Skinner smiled. Hey, who wasn't having fun before you walked in you dick head, Mulder thought! "Thanks anyway," Scully said and smiled. Skinner closed the door and started walking down the hall. "That was close, too close Mulder," Scully said eyeing the papers on the floor. "Yeah, well we should've told Skinner we were creating our own fun! Anyways, where were we?" Mulder said in a sexy voice. He grinned and moved closer to her wrapping his hands around her waist. "Spilt coffee, that's where we were," she smiled and pushed away from him, now suddenly out of the mood. She was now wet and sticky with coffee and desperately wanted a shower. Just then the door creaked open again...duh, of course it was Skinner. "Hey I forgot to ask, how did questioning Maykrantz go?" "Worse then I expected," Mulder answered, kneeling down to pick up the papers. "Why what happened?" Skinner continued. "Well, it seems that Maykrantz is very threatened by Mulder, because he shot him. He said he wouldn't speak without a lawyer," Scully answered as Mulder kept picking up files and paperwork. "So you didn't get anything out of him?" Skinner questioned. "Well, we got a few things. We still have some digging and some questioning to do," Scully explained. "Okay, do whatever it takes I guess. So how are you feeling?" "She's doing great," Mulder said springing up from the floor and jumped into their conversation to answer his easiest question. "Keep working hard. I'll see you guys tomorrow then," Skinner continued. Yeah I was working, working on Scully, and now I have to work harder thanks to you. Is it just me or is it now that me and Scully are "together" somewhat, that Skinner keeps popping up everywhere and sucking up and being nice, I swear, Mulder thought. "Yeah," Mulder murmured as Skinner closed the door. "You really like answering that question, don't you Mulder?" Scully asked. "What question?" Mulder was clueless. "If I was feeling okay," "Oh I am sorry, I figured you were getting tired of answering it," "I was, so stop asking me!" she laughed at the previous times he'd asked her. "No, I have to ask you Scully," "Why?" "Because you're not honest with me about your feelings," "Fine, you want me to be honest? Take me home!" she shouted. Mulder didn't know if that was an angry shout or not. He laid the papers on the desk, turned off the coffeepot, and turned to leave, Scully followed. Scully's Apartment Monday June 26, 2:35pm Scully entered her apartment thinking about how automatically Mulder came with her, not that she minded. "So can we finish what we started in the car and the office?" he asked hesitantly. "Mulder," Scully gasped shooting him a surprised look. He moved closer to her, so that their lips were so close, their breath could mate. He put his hands around her waist, letting them rest on her hips. "Make love to me Scully," he didn't give her a chance to answer or rebel, as he pressed his lips to hers. He covered her mouth in a passionate kiss, tongue and all. "Um," she moaned as he grabbed the waist of her jeans and unbuttoned them. She began tugging at his shirt again, pulling at the buttons, quicker with each one. She smoothed her hands over his firm, tanned, muscled, chest and pushed off the shirt. She darted for his nipples and covered them with her mouth, licking and sucking hard. "Ahh," he moaned as he ran his hands up her sides, pulling her shirt along. Their breathing became rapid and heavy, filling the room with sound. He touched the curve of her wired bra as he made his way to her armpits. He forced her arms in the air as he ripped off the shirt. "Put your hands on me Mulder," she demanded, as she backed away from him towards the bathroom, he followed. "Mulder, " she gasped as he unzipped her jeans. He kissed her swollen red luscious lips to quiet her. He slid her jeans off her hips and her panties too. She stepped out of them and he ran his hand back up her legs. He paused at her thighs, lightly stroking them, tickling her, making her beg for more. He moved his head closer to her hot wet center and breathed in her fragrance of arousal. She felt his warm breath weave into her folds, making her wetness feel cold. She felt like she was going to die if he didn't touch her soon. But he decided to tease her more, like she'd done to him many times. He moved his head up to her lower belly and kissed the fullness she had there (without being pregnant). He licked her belly button while holding her hips firmly. Then he stood up, burrowing himself in the cleavage of her breasts. "Please Scully, let me see all of you," he begged, She took him in her arms and whispered, "Not yet, it's your turn," She unbuttoned his jeans and lowered them along with his boxers. She was surprised to see his large and hard erection so soon. She had only meant for this to be "fooling" around, he was ready and she wasn't. "Mulder," she stood up and backed away from him, "I changed my mind," "What!?" he looked at her as if she were evil for teasing him so far and not continuing. "I will not make love until I have showered," she replied, recalling her resent days in the hospital with little bathing. "Hey, that's no problem, who ever said we had to stop? I have never done a shower thing, but you now how much I like to explore possibilities Scully," Mulder smiled. He pulled her to him once more and she felt his grip on her bottom grow tighter as he kissed her. She felt her cum drip between her legs as he lifted her just above his erection, still not entering, and she wrapped her legs around him tightly. They kissed as Mulder walked them to the shower, and stepped in; which was a hard task with her on him. He was dying to thrust and she was dying to ride, but he put her down and turned on the water, hot and steamy. He grabbed a sponge and soap and began to lather it up. Mulder glanced up and noticed Scully still had her bra on, now wet, opaque, he could see her hard throbbing nipples stand erect. He dropped the soap and moved his head to her. Taking one nipple in his mouth through the bra, he tried to unlatch it. Once he was successful, he let it drop to the shower floor, revealing her. She was so perfect, so beautiful. She had everything, curves, dips, shadows, hidden meanings in her grins, a deep past of love for him, the oils of her skin; so healthy and fragrant, her taste; so sexy with desire, he was her goddess, his life. He took the other nipple in his mouth and suckled hard. She arched back in the pain, it had been so long (except for their last sexual encounter, it had been so long that the sensations still felt new), her nipples were so hard, his suckle released the pain and pressure building there. Mulder moved up her to her neck, now using the sponge to massage her swollen full breasts. "Oh God, Mulder please," she screamed. "Um," he answered her cries as he dipped his tongue in her mouth. He tasted sweet and salty, running his tongue side to side, top to bottom, then thrusting it down her throat (in a pleasurable way) She whimpered but no sound came, Mulder could feel her vocal cords move as the moan disappeared in his throat. "Mulder, please, I need you," she screamed once again, pulling away from the kiss, digging her nails in his back. He brushed the soapy sponge across her belly and used his foot to turn off the water. He grabbed her hand as she stepped out and pulled her to the bedroom. Her moist hair was dripping wet down over her breasts, over her throbbing nipples, down her still soapy torso into her depths. Mulder looked so sexy, the water glistening his muscles, outlining his golden tan. She starred into his eyes, swearing that they couldn't get any greener. Mulder ran his wet hands over her slackened body and pushed her onto the bed. "Open yourself to me Scully," he demanded. She opened her legs and he moved his head to her lower body, "Touch yourself, show me how to please you," he commanded. "Mulder, I don't do that," she said thinking. She had before, everyone touches themselves, but she'd never done it in front of someone before. "Now that's a lie. Here, just put your hand here," he instructed, putting her hand in her clit area. She moved her fingers through her wet folds for just a moment and stopped. "Mulder, I can't do this, I need you inside me, now," she said raising her voice. He decided he'd prolonged their sexual intercourse long enough. He laid on top of her and entered her warmth with his throbbing organ and began to thrust in and out. "Oh Mulder, God that's so good," she screamed, "Um Ummm," she sort of hummed to conceal her cries. "Yeah, that's it baby, scream! As loud as you want damnit!" Mulder shouted in a groan and hard fast thrust. A few hours later, Mulder and Scully were cuddled, naked and sleeping. His arms wrapped around her like he was holding a treasure, encircling her, making her safe, happy, making her all his. Mulder awoke with the loudness of a thunderstorm occurring outside. It was pouring, dark and gloomy, lightning shattered throughout. He laid there caressing Scully's soft shoulders, lightly tickling her. He nuzzled his head in her neck, touching her cheek slightly. He glanced over to see the clock, it read 6:42pm. Mulder moved slightly pressing himself against her warm, soft body, kissing her neck. "Hey," he whispered. "Ummm, hi," she said smiling. "Are you ready for round two Agent Scully? I have my strength back now," Mulder joked, but if she said 'yes' he was ready. She laughed at the coincidence of his newly forming erection as he said it. "No Mulder. I don't know about you but I am hungry for food, not dessert," Scully said as she turned over to face him. "God Scully," he said in a serious voice. "What?" she asked confused. "Do you know how much I love you? Do you really?" Mulder asked touching her face. "I do, because I know how you make me feel," she answered. "You, you Scully, make me feel like my life is right. Whenever my life fell apart, you were there, you were the light in my darkness. Your eyes have so much desire, we have so much history together, buried deep in that big heart of yours, Scully..." Mulder paused trying to put feelings into words, he couldn't go on. "I know the same feeling, I know. God, how you broke down my walls, I will never know how you did it. You just...always knew what I needed. From the day I met you, I wanted you so much, sometimes it hurt. Every time I was with another man, I wanted you, that's probably why those relationships never worked," Scully explained, now running her fingers through his hair. "When I saw you with other men, I wanted to hurt them!" Mulder chuckled, "I wanted you all to myself, but I didn't deserve you, and I don't now," Mulder continued. "Mulder don't say that. I was yours since we first met, I knew that deep inside, and so did you," Scully smiled and paused, "You know there were really only two women I wanted to punch out of your life," Scully laughed. "Oh really, you do have a jealouse side, enlighten me, I might have given you permission to," Mulder smiled and joked. "Alright, Phoebe Green and Diana Fowley," Scully smiled and buried her head in his bare chest. Mulder let out a big laugh! "Go ahead, kick their ass's!" Mulder said still laughing. Scully stopped laughing and turned serious. "Mulder, did you ever sleep with Diana?" Scully asked curiously. Mulder became embarrassed and she did to for asking the question. "Unfortunately yes," he admitted. Scully rubbed her face against his chest, hiding her flushed face. There was a moment of silence between them as Scully took in what he just said. "Was that really what you wanted? Her?" Scully continued with this issue. "No! God no! I just needed someone to hold. I was too afraid to hold you. You never showed your feelings towards me that way, I didn't really know you wanted me, if I did, I would have made love to you long long ago," "C'mon, you're the man, you should've let me know what you wanted from me, cause God knows I could've used a sex life," Scully said in a low voice. "Heh, so did I, that's the only reason I was with her when I was partners with you. For a short period of time if you recall," "Why did you break it off?" Scully asked Mulder as he cupped his hands on her hips. "Well, I had gotten hints of your jealousy, I knew you wanted to hide it yet hint it to me. I realized I couldn't lie to myself anymore. I didn't love her Scully, and I didn't want her to think I did. And I certainly couldn't keep having intercourse with her when I was in love with you," Mulder paused, "It was getting scary actually. I'd see your face, wishing it was you underneath me," Mulder finished. "Ahh, yuck. You fantasized about me when you were having intercourse with her? That must have been scary, and it makes me wonder about myself," Scully said avoiding eye contact. "What do you wonder?" Mulder asked somewhat confused. "Was it...am I as good as her?" Scully asked ashamed of her question. "Aww Scully. I can't believe you just asked me that!" Mulder paused and forced her to look in his eyes, "Scully, I love you so much, it makes me weak, and that's not good in some places. Scully, I fantasized about you, I wanted you all along. You are incredible in every way, I love the way you kiss me, and hold me, and...I love everything that you do to me, how could you wonder?" Mulder asked, amazed at her insecurities. "But Mulder, was I good enough for you? Did I fulfill your fantasies?" she asked needing the answers. "Yes, God yes. I felt like I was literally in your soul earlier. You were so good at the way you...Scully, it felt so right with you. I never had that with her Scully, and I didn't want to have that with her. It was just s**. You seem to be having trouble seeing the difference between s** and making love," Mulder continued. "No I don't, I just needed to know how you felt," "Take this for an answer," he smiled, brushed her with his hardness and kissed her red lips. Just then Scully's phone rang. "Aww, I hate phones, but I love you," Mulder said lifting his head. He went to grab it but Scully stopped him. "Let me get it Mulder, you never know who it could be," he nodded and she got up to answer it. Mulder starred the whole time, feasting his eyes on her nakedness and her luscious lips as they moved when she spoke. "Hello?" she greeted. "Agent Scully," Skinner's voice entered her ears. "Yes sir," "Why don't you and Mulder join us for the party. More people are arriving," Skinner offered. "It's not too late?" Scully asked surprised at the company function, which is normally over quickly. "Oh no, we began it later this year, there's a few good hours left, c'mon you guys," Skinner pressed. She never heard him say he wanted their presence so badly. "All right, I'll talk to Mulder about it," Scully said and hung up. She turned to face his daydreaming eyes. "Mulder," she whispered gently. "Hum?" he smiled as his eyes slowly drifted from her body to her eyes. "Skinner wants us to come to the party," Scully smiled knowing his following protest. "Do you wanna go?" Mulder asked. "Well, they do have food and I am starving," she walked over to the pile of clothes leading to the bathroom. Mulder smiled as she slide on her panties and nothing else. "Al right then, let's get ready. You have my extra clothes here somewhere right?" Mulder asked referring to the ones she kept for emergencies, he had some of hers too. "Yes, in the left of the closet. I'm going to wash up," she said closing the door part way. Mulder got out of bed and retrieved his boxers from the floor and put them on. "Mulder, did you use my toothpaste again?" Scully shouted. "Um, no?" he said wondering why she'd asked. "Don't lie Mulder, you are the only person I know that squeezes toothpaste this way!" she laughed. He laughed too. "I am sorry," "Remind me to teach you later," she said "Okay, hey man, we could get real creative with that!" Mulder laughed. "Mulder," Scully said in warning voice. He went to her closet and opened it. He chose a suit and pulled it out, moving up to his face. Just as he suspected, it smelled like her, not the girly perfume smell, thank god, he didn't wanna smell like a girl, but it had the "Scully" smell. He liked it. He sat down and got dressed the best he could on the bed. Then he began making the bed, once again the covers twisted. "Mulder," Scully called for him "Yeah," he answered back. "Would you get me some clothes?" she asked. "Yeah, hang on," he got up and went over to her dresser and opened a small drawer, "Jackpot!" he said excitedly as he chose a black bra and a black thong. He went to her closet and eyes her black dresses. "Damn, I bet she looks hot in this," he said a little louder than he meant too. He pulled it out and laid it on the bed. "What?!" she asked knowing what she heard. "Nothing," he said smiling. He tapped on the bathroom door and she pulled it back slightly to she him, but he could only see her bare skin of her legs, shoulders, and arms, of course she wouldn't let him see all of her, too tempting. "Here," he said, pushing the undergarments through the crack in the doorway, "No wait, actually, come out here, I want to dress you," Mulder said with a boyish grin. "Why?" she asked making him work for what he wanted. "Because...I want to touch you," "Mulder, c'mon we can't be fooling around now, we have to go," she said seriously, but Mulder was being serious he wanted her. "No, I promise, I'll be good," he mentioned. He pulled her out of the bathroom and stood in front of her. Her bright auburn hair was up in a twist that looked so elegant (he wondered how she did it so fast) and her make up was done, perfect as always. There was silence as he took the bra selected and threaded each arm through and lifted her
