Title: Stakeout IV - After the Fall Author: Witch Baby baby_witch@hotmail.com Title: Stakeout IV -- After the Fall Category: MSR, ANGST, UST Rating: R for sexual descriptions Spoilers: None. No specific time frame either. Could be anytime, you decide. Summary: The meeting with Skinner... and resolution. Disclaimer: Unfortunately, I do not own Mulder or Scully or any other character that appears on The X-Files television series (though I really wish I did!). They belong to Chris Carter, 1013 Productions, FOX, -- whoever, I just know it's not me. No infringement intended. xxxxxxxxx Scully pushed hard on Mulder's chest, trying to extricate him from her body. He withdrew, still erect and stood there dazed and panting heavily while Scully retrieved her panties, discarded the ruined hose, smoothed her skirt, and slipped on her shoes. "Mulder," she hissed, suppressing a smile as she took in her partner standing with pants and boxers around his ankles, his erection purple and glistening peeking out from the hem of his shirt. "We've got to get to Skinner's office right now!" Mulder pulled up his pants, constricting the erection that was not about to go away any time soon. Noticing his condition, Scully handed him his jacket. "Button it up. Maybe it'll hide..." She trailed off knowing they both knew what she meant. Both agents were silent on the trip up the elevator: Mulder, because he was still dazed from the events that had so recently taken place, and Scully because she was silently cursing herself for her loss of control. She very well may have ruined both her and Mulder's careers by giving in to her desires she told herself. The wait in Skinner's office as Kimberly announced them was equally as silent, though notably more tense than the elevator ride had been. When the agents were finally permitted to enter, they found their boss sitting behind his desk, composed, and engrossed in a file. He did not look up as his two wayward agents walked in, nor did he appear flustered in any way, as one might expect considering the spectacle he had witnessed not ten minutes before. He allowed Mulder and Scully to sit in uncomfortable silence for a moment before he spoke. "Agents, the reason I came down to Agent Mulder's office was because I had received a case that I thought might be of interest to the two of you. What I found..." he trailed off only to start again. "I should not have to tell you this agents, but whatever your personal relationship is - I really don't care what - but whatever it is, it should remain outside the office. I don't know what you were thinking - having sex in the office with the door wide open - but I hope you know I could and should bring you up on charges for this. Protocol deems that there should be a hearing on the matter and you both should be put up for reassignment and remediation, even if you were technically off-duty when it happened." "Sir," Mulder interrupted, "it wasn't Agent Scully's fault. I started it. If someone has to take the fall for this let it be me. Agent Scully is..." "Sir," Scully interrupted her partner, "Agent Mulder isn't being entirely truthful. I waited for him in his office. I initiated..." "Enough, Agents," Skinner barked. "I don't care who 'started it'. As far as I'm concerned, it takes two to tango so you're both equally to blame. Now as I've already stated, I should report the two of you for your actions. I'm sure you're both well aware of the regulations against partners becoming intimately involved. However, since your relationship has never affected your work performance before, and since you were technically off-duty when the incident occurred, I am going to let you off with a warning. But, I'd better never catch you acting unprofessionally on the job again. Do you hear me? Next time I will not be so lenient." "Thank you Sir," Scully answered shakily. "I assure you it will never happen again." Mulder nodded solemnly in agreement. "Good." Skinner accepted their assurance. "Now back to the case..." XXXXXXXXXX Scully shot out of the office without looking at her partner as soon as their boss dismissed them. She made it to the parking garage before he caught up with her. "Scully," Mulder grabbed his partner's arm, out of breath from running to catch her. "Let me go, Mulder," she ordered. "Scully, we need to talk." "I don't think we do." "What do you mean, you don't think so?" "Mulder, we both could've lost our jobs today. If anybody but Skinner had caught us, we would have." "So you just want to pretend today never happened?" "I don't see we have any other choice." "Come on, Scully! Skinner practically gave us his blessing. 'I don't care what your personal relationship is as long as it remains outside the office.'" "Yeah, Mulder, well he also reminded us that the Bureau does not allow partners to become intimately involved." "Well it's a little too late for that one." "Look, Mulder, I'm sorry I let my hormones get out of control today. It won't happen again." "Damn it, Scully," he grabbed her shoulders, forcing her to look at him. "Look me in the eye and tell me you don't want me." "Mulder let me go!" She shook free of his grasp. "I'll see you tomorrow," she said a little too calmly, and then turned to walk to her car. "Scully!" She turned at the note of anguish in his voice. He ran to catch up with her. "Scully, please wait." "I can't do this now, Mulder," she said sadly, not meeting his eyes. "I'm sorry I yelled at you. I'm sorry I was so harsh. Just please look at me." She shook her head slightly, but didn't look up. He put his fingers under her chin and gently tilted her head so she met his eyes. "I love you, Scully," he said quietly. "You're the best friend I've ever had and I can't lose you. Even if it means I never get to make love to you again. Please don't shut me out because of this." "Mulder," she murmured. She shut her eyes wearily, causing a single tear to roll down her cheek. She opened her eyes again and spoke. "I love you too and I don't want to be just friends anymore. But I don't know what to do. Our jobs..." she trailed off. Mulder gently pulled her into his arms. "We don't have to decide anything right now," he said into her hair. He felt her smile into his chest. "What?" She shifted her hips against him. "Mulder are you still...?" She looked up at him with a twinkle in her eye. "Let's just say I'm having a hard time calming down." She stepped back from him, still smiling. "Not here, okay." He nodded. "Why don't you follow me home? We can have dinner and maybe take care of you little problem." "Little?!" Mulder questioned with mock insult. "Alright, big problem." "That's better." The two agents turned to walk to their cars. "Hey, Scully, we're gonna be okay, aren't we?" "Yeah, Mulder. We're gonna be just fine." The end of the Stakeout series.
