As she lay awake in her hotel room, she could hear the soft soughing of the wind outside her window. It was the kind of wind that promised a storm was coming, and Dana Scully also loved storms. Once, when she was a little child, she had been utterly terrified of the thunder and lightning and pounding rain of a fierce thunder storm. That was until one night, when her mother had come into her room during the middle of a storm, and taken her outside onto the covered porch. Sitting a terrified Dana in her lap, snugly bundled up in a dark-green woven blanket, she had whispered soothing words into her daughters ears, smoothing her gentle hand along the little girls forehead. After a time, the drumming of the rain, and the occasional flash of lightning had started to become a beautiful thing to the little girl, and she had delighted in the savage beauty, and the unrelenting rhythms. She drifted off to sleep in her mothers arms, and from that day forward, she caught her breath at the sound of the wind that told her that a storm was coming. Like it did now. Unable to sleep, she gently slipped out of bed, grabbing her blanket and pillow on the way. She was delighted that, for once, they had been lucky enough to find a cheap hotel that had private balconies for the adjoined rooms that looked outwards over the sea. The sea! What a wonderful stroke of luck. She made her way over to the door that led to the balcony, and pulled it open slowly, so as not to awaken anybody, most of all her slumbering partner. She paused for a moment, closing her eyes and breathing deeply to absorb the distinctive sea air, before stepping out onto the small balcony. Scully got the surprise of her life when her eyes settled on the dark bundle sitting on the floor with it's back against the wall, and unusually serene eyes under a dark shock of hair that were staring right at her. "Mulder." His reply was a soft smile and a hand patting the floor next to him. She smiled in return and made her way over to him, feeling suddenly self-conscious in the plain white shirt and panties that she wore. He noticed her slight blush and accordingly raked his eyes over every square centimetre of bare flesh, his eyes seeming to blaze a trail from the tip of her toes to the top of her head. He once again raised his eyes to hers and gave her a lewd grin and wiggling eyebrows, comforting her in the only way he knew how, by making a joke of it. As she sat down, she playfully swatted his arm, and was rewarded with a slow chuckle that turned her insides to molten liquid, and caused her chest to constrict painfully, making speech difficult. She made herself comfortable against the wall before speaking again. "What are you doing out here?" He looked out over the sea as he answered her. "The same thing as you," his eyes quickly turned to hers, seeming black in the near darkness. "Waiting for the storm." He held her gaze and seemingly on cue, a simultaneous flash and peal of thunder told them that the storm had arrived. As the rain began to pour down, they contemplated each other in the brief flashes of lighting, each searching the others face, for what, they did not know. After a while they turned back to the storm, watching the clouds and the sea, as it was whipped up to a churning mass by the rushing wind. For some reason, Scully was not surprised, nor did she object, when Mulder gently placed his arms around her, pulling her closer, so that her arms were around him, her legs were resting over his and her head was on his shoulder. It seemed right that they comfort each other like that, cocooned in their blankets, protected from the outside world. Together in a place that seemed as though no-one could touch them. It seemed as though they sat there for eternity, basking in the nearness and the warmth of each other. Mulders hand lightly stroking her outer thigh, as hers toyed with the hair at the base of his neck, they never stopped to think about what they were doing, so absorbed were they in the rhythms of the storm and each others breath. As the wind increased in speed, so did their need for each other. Scullys eyes were closed when Mulder shifted slightly under her, and the next thing she felt was the warmth of his lips upon hers. She drew in a small gasp and her eyes opened to find him watching her intently, waiting for her to make the next move. Her thoughts whirled about in a maelstrom. We shouldn't do this...but I want to...they'll use this against us...but we need this. The storm within her raged fiercely, the reasons pro and con whirling around in a hurricane. Then it all stopped, and she suddenly saw things with a perfect clarity. What she saw was the most gentle, compassionate, driven, adorable, handsome, loving and sexy man in her universe staring at her with unadulterated lust in his eyes, and she thought no more. The decision was made for her. So she leaned forward and captured his lips with her own, and they began to hungrily explore each other. Beneath the blankets, their hands moved rhythmically, smoothing over skin, lingering on scars, pushing away clothing until only skin lay between them. Their moans and gasps were almost hidden by the sound of the wind as they found their wanton pleasure with each other. Eventually, Scully moved back from him and got up onto her knees, straddling him. As she stopped, poised above him, she regarded his dreamy look and a smile of sheer joy appeared on her face. His expression changed to wonder as his hand lifted to touch her face. "Why are you smiling like that. I've never seen that smile before...." He was silenced as she lowered onto him, watching his eyes close as his head tilted back against the wall. She lent into him and whispered in his ear. "This is your smile. This is how you make me feel." A sob of happiness escaped him, and she covered his mouth with hers, beginning to slowly rock her hips. They ground against each other, the intensity of their lovemaking increasing with the intensity of the storm, until they were crying out each others names into the night, gripping each other fiercely as they rode out the passion of their union, their hands surrounding each other until they stilled, gasping into each others necks. When their breathing had quieted, Mulder slowly reached around Scully, grasping the blankets that had slipped off her during their coupling. He pulled it tight over them, keeping their body heat in as the storm continued to rage around them. She raised her head from his shoulder, catching his eyes. Something in the gaze had changed, it was unfathomable, unknowable.... and perfect. They smiled, a love hidden and suddenly awakened shining between them as she lowered her head back to his chest, and turned her eyes back to the storm. Then they sat, watching the storm, whispering to each other. For the first time content just to be together. End. The G-Woman.
